Patek Philippe is introducing four new models from the Nautilus collection at Watches & Wonders 2021. The new Nautilus 5711/1A-014, with its olive green dial, stands out in particular, and replaces the discontinued Nautilus 5711/1A with a blue dial.
In addition, the manufacture is also launching a variation of this new 5711/1A-014 with a diamond-set bezel. Elsewhere, Patek Philippe is introducing the Travel Time Chronograph 5990/1R-001 in a rose-gold case with a blue dial. Finally, the Genevese horology house is introducing a Ladies’ Nautilus in rose-gold, set with 2553 diamonds.
Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-014 with olive green dial
The sunburst finish complements the colouring and picks up on the light reflections on the steel case. The olive green also contrasts with the luminescent hands and indices in white gold. For the case, Patek Philippe relies on the familiar design blueprint and, as usual, the automatic calibre 26-330 S C ticks inside. Last but not least, the water resistance of up to 120 m remains the same. According to the horological house, the new 5711/1A-014 will only be produced for one year – hence we are talking about a limited production, but not limited edition.
Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1300A-001 with baguette diamonds
The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1300A-00 combines a steel case with a diamond-set bezel. In order for the 32 baguette diamonds (~3.6 carats) to fit into the rounded bezel, each stone is cut slightly trapezoidal, instead of rectangular. Similarly to the model above, powering this Nautilus is the 26-330 S C calibre.
Patek Philippe Travel Time Chronograph 5990/1R-001 in Rose Gold
The Patek Philippe Travel Time Chronograph 5990/1R-001 complements the Nautilus 5990/1, with the latter first appearing in stainless-steel back in 2014. The new watch appears in a rose-gold case with a blue dial. Inside the 5990/1R-001 ticks the calibre CH 28-520 C FUS with automatic winding. It combines a flyback chronograph with a travel time function and a date at 12 o’clock. The watch also features two day/night displays with the headings “LOCAL” and “HOME”. An integrated rose-gold bracelet secures the watch to the wrist with a folding clasp.
Patek Philippe Nautilus High Jewellery 7118/1450R-001
With the Patek Philippe Nautilus Haute Joaillerie 7118/1450R-001, the Swiss company is expanding its range of ladies’ models. The new model is made of rose gold and measures 35.2 mm in diameter. Patek Philippe sets the watch with 2553 brilliant-cut diamonds (~12.69 carats).
Another special feature is the snowflake setting on the case, bezel and bracelet, in which the watch is set with diamonds without a grid. The utmost care is taken to bring the stones as close together as possible. This technique makes each watch unique. Finally, the manufacture equips the model with the calibre 324 S with automatic winding.

The young Norqain brand from Nidau was founded in 2018 at a time when the market did not really need another watch brand – and has therefore taken an unconventional path from the outset: Norqain relies on close cooperation with prominent athletes who not only serve as brand ambassadors but are also deeply involved in…
Jean-Claude Biver is a figurehead which many know and associate with watchmaking in this day and age. A huge collector in his own right, he was integral in the turnaround of the Blancpain brand, as well has having held positions of power at the likes of Omega and Hublot. Eventually he went on to create…
How the Black Bay lives on through its most popular diver’s watch If he were alive today, Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf would be tremendously proud to see the legacy of his life’s work in the 21st century. Temporarily removing Rolex from the picture, he would have been equally proud to discover how its sister brand,…
Loro Piana, Sandro, Max Mara – brands synonymous with ‘quiet luxury’ in fashion are relatively easy to identify. But when it comes to watches, how does 'quiet luxury' manifest itself? Is every Swiss watchmaker capable of achieving it, or do certain companies inevitably carry certain associations? Can a brand known for emblazoning its logo across…
These days, Vacheron Constantin seems to reach new heights every five minutes. Ever more in the eyes of the public and not just connoisseurs, the horology house recently burst through the billion-franc mark, as it achieved a phenomenal 1.097 billion Swiss francs in sales. According to Morgan Stanley’s annual watch report, this amounts to an average watch…
This one almost slipped through our fingers. In the shadow of many huge product launches, it's easy to overlook a few new models from quieter – but by no means less important –manufacturers. Certina, a brand belonging to the Swatch Group, launched the DS-2 Powermatic 80 back in March – and it turned out extremely well! I…

The family-owned company has a keen instinct when it comes to choosing its partner brands – always knowing how to both delight and surprise its clientele. Wempe’s newest brand marks yet another premiere for Germany. Having once been the country’s…
The 'Nordschleife' (Northern loop) has the reputation of being the most difficult racetrack in the world. This winding ribbon of tarmac makes its way through 33 left-hand and 40 right-hand bends, while varying in altitudes of 300 m over the Eifel National Park – more than any other race track. The Nordschleife is so notorious…
Charles A. Lindberg might have been the most prominent pilot, who trusted the know-how of watch brand Longines in the 1930s, which earned reputation in the field of aviation already from the very start. Their pilot watches distinguished themselves due to the rotating inner disc, which enabled the pilots to synchronize their watch with the…
The perpetual calendar: a historic mechanism that dates back as early as 1695, first appearing within a clock. But it was the renowned watchmaker Thomas Mudge who first put it onto the wristwatch map, creating a perpetual calendar movement for his No. 525 watch in 1762. Over a century later, the then-‘LeCoultre & Cie’ developed its first…
Alongside the news that Rolex is increasing the size of its new-generation Submariner models, the horology house has also decided to go large on its 2020 Oyster Perpetual watches, which are now available in 41 mm for the first time. What's more, Rolex has made space for the seven sizeable new watches by bidding goodbye…
For the 6th anniversary of the young independent watchmaking atelier AkriviA, founder and master watchmaker Rexhep Rexhepi wished to present something completely new. So far, most of his watches are from the inside and outside wholly complex. Tourbillon complications became his passion. The Chronomètre Contemporain, inspired by officers watches is a long-awaited dream come true for…
