Patek Philippe is introducing four new models from the Nautilus collection at Watches & Wonders 2021. The new Nautilus 5711/1A-014, with its olive green dial, stands out in particular, and replaces the discontinued Nautilus 5711/1A with a blue dial.
In addition, the manufacture is also launching a variation of this new 5711/1A-014 with a diamond-set bezel. Elsewhere, Patek Philippe is introducing the Travel Time Chronograph 5990/1R-001 in a rose-gold case with a blue dial. Finally, the Genevese horology house is introducing a Ladies’ Nautilus in rose-gold, set with 2553 diamonds.
Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-014 with olive green dial
The sunburst finish complements the colouring and picks up on the light reflections on the steel case. The olive green also contrasts with the luminescent hands and indices in white gold. For the case, Patek Philippe relies on the familiar design blueprint and, as usual, the automatic calibre 26-330 S C ticks inside. Last but not least, the water resistance of up to 120 m remains the same. According to the horological house, the new 5711/1A-014 will only be produced for one year – hence we are talking about a limited production, but not limited edition.
Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1300A-001 with baguette diamonds
The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1300A-00 combines a steel case with a diamond-set bezel. In order for the 32 baguette diamonds (~3.6 carats) to fit into the rounded bezel, each stone is cut slightly trapezoidal, instead of rectangular. Similarly to the model above, powering this Nautilus is the 26-330 S C calibre.
Patek Philippe Travel Time Chronograph 5990/1R-001 in Rose Gold
The Patek Philippe Travel Time Chronograph 5990/1R-001 complements the Nautilus 5990/1, with the latter first appearing in stainless-steel back in 2014. The new watch appears in a rose-gold case with a blue dial. Inside the 5990/1R-001 ticks the calibre CH 28-520 C FUS with automatic winding. It combines a flyback chronograph with a travel time function and a date at 12 o’clock. The watch also features two day/night displays with the headings “LOCAL” and “HOME”. An integrated rose-gold bracelet secures the watch to the wrist with a folding clasp.
Patek Philippe Nautilus High Jewellery 7118/1450R-001
With the Patek Philippe Nautilus Haute Joaillerie 7118/1450R-001, the Swiss company is expanding its range of ladies’ models. The new model is made of rose gold and measures 35.2 mm in diameter. Patek Philippe sets the watch with 2553 brilliant-cut diamonds (~12.69 carats).
Another special feature is the snowflake setting on the case, bezel and bracelet, in which the watch is set with diamonds without a grid. The utmost care is taken to bring the stones as close together as possible. This technique makes each watch unique. Finally, the manufacture equips the model with the calibre 324 S with automatic winding.

With the Patravi ScubaTec Maldives, Carl F. Bucherer celebrates its long-standing partnership with the Manta Trust - a non-profit organisation that works to protect the endangered manta ray. With its stainless steel case and water resistance of 500 metres, the ScubaTec Maldives is a real diver's watch. In addition, the certified chronometer has a rotating…
Building the thinnest watch in the world is undeniably one of the most competitive and impressive record chases in modern day horological engineering. Whilst many brands have produced thin watches, only a few brands have ever been truly in competition for the trophy – predominantly Bulgari, Richard Mille and Piaget. In this article, I will…
Popping pastels and vacation vibes; Breitling's new SuperOcean Heritage ’57 Pastel Paradise Capsule Collection for women actually stems from a 1950s diver's watch for men. Now, however, it has transformed into a high quality, incredibly fashionable new timepiece. With the introduction of this series, Breitling is proving itself to be truly with the times, not to…
Of all the luxury brands out there, Cartier is surely the most resplendent. The Cartier insignia, glowing in gold and set against lavish red, represents decades upon decades of history, jewels, fashion, kings, queens, actresses – and, most importantly for us, watchmaking. Understatement and refinement are important: style is vital. Allow us to paint you…
The perpetual calendar: a historic mechanism that dates back as early as 1695, first appearing within a clock. But it was the renowned watchmaker Thomas Mudge who first put it onto the wristwatch map, creating a perpetual calendar movement for his No. 525 watch in 1762. Over a century later, the then-‘LeCoultre & Cie’ developed its first…
Florentine watch brand Panerai’s Submersible models first surfaced in the late 90s. For more than two decades, however, the timepiece overshadowing it was Panerai's original diving watch, the Luminor. Since 2019, the Submersible has increasingly distinguished itself as a line in its own right. Now, for the first time, the new Submersible Goldtech Orocarbo PAM01070 combines two Panerai-developed materials into one watch:…
Did you know that Zenith was the second watch brand to create and manufacture wristwatches specifically for pilots? And it gets even better! Visionary and Zenith founder Georges Favre-Jacot had the term "Pilot" trademarked long before humans took to the skies. It is therefore only logical that the brand is dedicating a very special edition…
For quite some time, Dior watches have predominantly been considered ‘fashion watches’ by the majority of the watch community. Recently however, the brand launched five new watches to add to its Chiffre Rouge range, a line-up which was first unveiled back in 2004 under heavy influence from Hedi Slimane, the then designer for Dior Homme. Introduced in…
As soon as the five starting lights on Boulevard Albert 1er turn green at 3 p.m. on 25 May 2025 and the Formula 1 TAG Heuer Grand Prix de Monaco 2025 begins, they will also mark the beginning of a new era in the watch world at the historic race track. In celebration of the…
In 1968, the Apollo 8 mission transmitted images to Earth that were so impressive that they triggered a metaphysical shiver across the globe. 'Earthrise', the image shot on 24 December 1968 during the fourth of ten planned orbits of the moon, not only made it clear that we humans had set foot on another celestial…
As a somewhat seasoned purveyor of the watch industry by now, I would personally assert that Vacheron Constantin’s Les Cabinotiers is one of the absolute highest watchmaking departments on the planet. Over the years, the Swiss horology house’s unique creations division has produced some of the most complex watches of all time, blending groundbreaking horological…
At the time when Pierre Jaquet-Droz was born in 1721, the golden age for automatons just started. The engineer Jacques de Vaucanson enchanted the people with his ‘mechanical duck’, made of more than 400 moving components and able to move its wings, chatter and sip water. The young watchmaker Pierre Jaquet-Droz was fascinated by this…
It looks almost that the greatest density of magnum wine bottles is based in the southern part of Styria. They like to think big. An area, near the Slovenian border, where viniculture forms the landscape and which is famous for one of the best Sauvignon Blanc in the world. At Porsche they have always, and…
