Richard Mille RM 07-02 Automatic Sapphire: New Colors For The Crystal Case
Richard Mille presents four new variants of the RM 07-02 Automatic Sapphire. The collection debuted in 2015 and has been expanded to include a new lilac sapphire colour. The watches feature a diamond-set case and a dial with geometric shapes, showcasing the brand’s signature watchmaking techniques. Each version is limited to seven pieces.
Case
The case of the RM 07-02 Automatic Sapphire is made entirely of coloured sapphire, a material that requires over 1,000 hours of machining. This includes 430 hours for preforming the case parts and 350 hours for polishing. The curved lines of the tonneau shape ensure ergonomic comfort but demand precision at every stage of production. The anti-reflective coating on the front and rear bezels enhances visibility. Each variant features a different coloured sapphire, with the new lilac shade involving extensive trials to achieve the desired hue. The setting of the stones is done with laser precision, and the gold prongs are hand-polished.
Dial
The dial of the RM 07-02 Automatic Sapphire is a testament to the art of gem-setting, with symmetrical geometric shapes and a harmonious arrangement of stones. The dials are adorned with diamonds, blue sapphires, yellow sapphires, orange spessartite, white agate, opal, green tsavorite, chrysoprase, and malachite. These stones catch the light and enhance the overall aesthetic of the watch. The central graphic design adds to the visual appeal, showcasing the craftsmanship involved.
Movement
Housed within the sapphire case is the CRMA5, an in-house skeletonised automatic movement. It features a variable-geometry rotor that adjusts the winding according to the wearer’s activity. The baseplate and bridges are made from red or white gold, depending on the version, and are microblasted and hand-chamfered. The red gold rotor is set with diamonds. The movement has a power reserve of approximately 50 hours and displays hours and minutes.
Strap
The RM 07-02 Automatic Sapphire comes with a comfortable and durable strap made of rubber. This choice of material ensures a secure fit and complements the watch’s sporty yet elegant design. The strap is equipped with a folding clasp, providing added security and ease of use.
Price & Availability
Each version of the RM 07-02 Automatic Sapphire is limited to seven pieces. The price of these exclusive timepieces is not publicly disclosed, and interested buyers should contact authorised Richard Mille dealers for more information.
