Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli Monotourbillon: Celebrating Pirelli’s 150th Anniversary
The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli Monotourbillon celebrates Pirelli’s 150th anniversary. The collaboration’s result is a sporty timepiece made of white composite Mineral Composite Fibre. It features a flying tourbillon and a power indicator in the style of a car’s fuel gauge. It is also possible to exchange the bezel, crown and strap for three included sets in silver, red or gold. The special edition is limited to eight pieces.
Case
The case measures 45 mm in diameter and is made of titanium and mineral composite fibre. The material is an in-house innovation and is based on silicon dioxide. The white composite material is notable for its lightness and robust structure that allows for complex designs. Here, this is expressed in the notched bezel and the lugs with three horns. However, a special feature is only revealed in the dark: the bezel is coated with luminous material and thus emphasises the sporty silhouette of the watch. Elsewhere, the crown features an easy-grip rubber coating and the Roger Dubuis logo. On the back, the see-through case back allows a view of the Excalibur Spider Pirelli‘s mechanics. The Pirelli lettering is also printed on the crystal. The water resistance of the watch is 50 metres.
Dial
The time display consists of two main hands and a ring with minute and hour indices. In addition, the flying tourbillon at 7 o’clock serves as the seconds display of the Excalibur Spider Pirelli. Both the hands and the hour indices and the Roger Dubuis lettering at 12 o’clock bear luminous material. Between 9 and 10 o’clock, there is also a power reserve display in the style of a car’s fuel gauge. Also included is the typical star in the upper half of the front, which can be found on most Excalibur models.
The QRS System For Exchanging The Bezel, Crown And Strap
Inspired by the quick pit stops in motorsport, the QRS system allows for an easy swap of the bezel, crown or strap. To this end, the Maison includes three additional sets that reflect the official colours of Pirelli’s 150th anniversary. With a twist, for example, the wearer can change the white bezel for a red one. The matching strap snaps into place just as easily. Even the crown cover can be removed by the owner to complete the change. The straps also bear the Pirelli 150th anniversary logo, which glows in the dark. The back also features the Pirelli Cinturato pattern and the motto “Power Is Nothing Without Control”.
The Sporty Drive of The Excalibur Spider Pirelli
The RD508SQ calibre powers the timepiece. The skeletonised mechanism is composed of 265 individual parts and integrates 29 rubies. At 7 o’clock, the flying tourbillon makes its rounds and also functions as a seconds display. The frequency of the balance is 3 hertz. Last but not least, the movement offers a power autonomy of 60 hours. The remaining power is visualised by the reserve indicator above the tourbillon. It goes without saying that all parts are finished to the highest standard. The Geneva Seal, the industry’s most demanding seal, also testifies to the exceptional quality.
Price & Availability of The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli Monotourbillon
The watch is limited to just eight pieces and is therefore only available to a few aspirants. Moreover, the timepiece is only for sale in the company’s own boutiques. Price on request.
