Breitling is announcing a new partnership with Australian lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina. To mark the occasion, Breitling is presenting the Top Time Deus Limited Edition, aimed at “dynamic people who care about action, functionality and style”. The retro-look chronograph is limited to 1,500 pieces and is available now from Breitling’s online store.
Deus Ex Machina and the Breitling Deus Squad
The Australian company Deus Ex Machina gained notoriety in 2006 when it started selling customised motorbikes. The brand stands for the idea that making something yourself is more fun than just owning it. Accordingly, it celebrates creativity and machines. As part of the partnership between the two brands, Breitling will now also be the official timekeeper of the Deus Swank Rally – a motorbike championship held in various locations around the world.
Breitling was able to win over Californian Forrest Minchinton, who has a passion for both motorbikes and surfboards, as brand ambassador. Together with the Hawaiian competitive surfer Sierra Lerback and the French motorbike engineer and designer Jeremy Tagand, the three form the “Deus Squad” and represent the Breitling brand on the scene.
Breitling Top Time Deus Limited Edition: Case & Material
The Breitling Top Time Deus Limited Edition has a 41 mm stainless-steel case. The shape is inspired by the Breitling Top Time from the 1960s, which was intended to appeal to young people in particular. The caseback showcases an image of a retro motorcyclist. Since the crown is not screw-down, the watch is only water-resistant to 3 bar or 30 m.
Retro-look dial
The retro-style silver dial features the Breitling lettering and the Deus logo. The black indices and orange hands are coated with luminous material. Meanwhile, the central chronograph hand is red and in the shape of a lightning bolt. Furthermore, there is a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, while small seconds lie at 9 o’clock. Last but not least, the black tachymeter scale on the periphery bears the Deus motto “In benzin veritas”.
The movement inside the Breitling Top Time Deus
Breitling equips the special edition with the Breitling Calibre 23, which is based on the ETA 7753. The chronograph movement has automatic, unidirectional winding with a ball bearing. The power reserve is 48 hours. The watch is also COSC-certified, which guarantees a maximum rate deviation of -4 to +6 seconds per day.
The watch has a racing-style calfskin strap secured by a pin buckle. Thisspecial edition is now available exclusively online. If ordered on www.breitling.com, the buyer will also receive a Deus coffee table book and canvas carrying case. The Breitling Top Time Deus Limited Edition is limited to 1,500 pieces and costs 4,850 euros.
