Rolex updates the Explorer line and presents the all-new Rolex Explorer with a 36 mm case made of stainless steel and yellow gold. In addition, the house also presents a variant that is made entirely of stainless steel and also measures 36 mm. Both models use the modern calibre 3230 with Chronergy escapement and 70-hour power reserve.
The Rolex Explorer with the new 36 mm case in Rolesor or stainless steel
The new Rolex Explorer appears with a 36 mm case in Rolesor, which combines Oystersteel stainless steel with yellow gold. Rolex also presents a variant with a 36 mm case made entirely of stainless steel. The monobloc middle section and the solid case back have remained in both models. Thanks to the screw-down Twinlock crown, the watch is water-resistant to 100 metres.
The dial of the Rolex Explorer
The dial of the Rolesor version has hands, indices and numerals in 18-carat yellow gold. Meanwhile, the steel variant retains white gold hands, indices and numerals. Both variants also feature improved Chromalight luminous material, which is said to glow longer in the dark and appear a richer white during the day. Last but not least, Rolex places the distinctive crown between “Swiss” and “Made”, indicating the 32XX-generation calibre inside.
The calibre 3230 powers the Rolex Explorer
Inside the Rolex Explorer now ticks the in-house calibre 3230. This latest generation movement is also in the Submariner “No Date” from 2020. It is equipped with automatic winding and offers a power reserve of 70 hours. It also integrates Rolex’s Chronergy escapement and a Parachrom hairspring with a Rolex end curve. Finally, with Rolex’ own Superlative Chronometer certificate, the house guarantees a maximum rate deviation of -2/+2 seconds per day.
The watch appears on the Oyster bracelet in Rolesor or stainless steel. The Oysterlock folding clasp secures the watch on the wrist and also features the 5 mm Easylink extension. The price of the Rolex Explorer in Rolesor (yellow gold and stainless steel) is 10,500 euros, while the variant with stainless steel case costs 6,250 euros.
