Panerai Radiomir Eilean Experience Edition PAM01244 With Digital Blockchain Passport
Florentine watchmaker Panerai used to supply precision instruments to the Royal Italian Navy, which over time also gave rise to a passion for historic ships. One such vessel is the yacht Eilean, designed and built by boatbuilder William Fife and lavishly restored with Panerai’s support. Shortly after the Eilean was completed in 1936, Panerai produced a prototype of the first Radiomir model.
As a tribute to these two historic events, Panerai presents the Radiomir Eilean Experience Edition PAM01244 in a limited edition of 50 pieces. The purchase includes not only a Mediterranean trip to the Amalfi Coast, but also a digital wallet based on the latest Web3 blockchain technology, allowing Panerai to create unique digital pieces for its customers through NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens).
Case
The 45mm bi-material case is made of patinated steel and bronze, and takes its cues from the original Radiomir models of the 1930s. However, it differs in its slightly flatter profile. The bezel, crown and caseback are bronze, recovered during the restoration of the Eilean. The caseback bears the inscription “Eilean 1936”. The case flank is adorned with a dragon emblem, as emblazoned on the bow of the ship. The whip stitches along the dark brown calfskin strap are inspired by nautical knots.
Dial
The dial of the new Panerai the Radiomir Eilean Experience Edition PAM01244 is blue in the brand’s signature sandwich design, while its textured surface is reminiscent of the yacht’s teak deck. The divided hour hand resembles those found on the first Radiomir models. Although Panerai uses Super-LumiNova instead of Radiomir as luminous substance nowadays, the beige numerals and hour markers still glow green as they did almost a century ago.
Movement
The Radiomir Eilean Experience Edition PAM01244 features a hand-wound P.6000 caliber movement, which is protected from water to up to 10 bar (100 meters) and has a power reserve of three days.
NFT & Web3 blockchain technology
Each buyer will receive one of the 50 Panerai Genesis NFTs linked to the Radiomir Eilean. This token will be stored in a personalized cryptographic wallet and will include an artwork made exclusively for Panerai by an NFT artist. Panerai has chosen provider Arianee as its partner for the brand’s entry into digital blockchain technology. The owner of one of the Genesis NFTs will have access to exclusive content as well as future events and offers from the brand. The digital passport personalizes the watch and its artwork for each owner and protects their identity.
