W&W 2022: Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400: Three New Pilots With In-House Mechanics
With the Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400, the Hölstein-based manufacturer is presenting three new pilot’s watches equipped with the Calibre 400. The watches appear in a titanium case and have a matching bracelet made of the same material. They come with dials in grey, blue or salmon.
The 39 mm Titanium Case
The case of the Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 measures 39 mm in diameter and is made entirely of titanium. The metal is known above all for its lightness, although its hardness is comparable to stainless steel. Oris gives the case both sandblasted and satin-finished surfaces. The lines are inspired by aviation and the typical fluted bezel can also be found here. The oversized crown with flank protection is also crafted from titanium. On the back, the sapphire crystal case back allows a view into the watch. Last but not least, the three watches have a water resistance of up to 10 bar or 100 metres.
The Three Dials of The Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400
There is a choice of grey, blue or salmon-coloured dials. The grey dial has a black printed minute track with black baton indices. It also has black hands and a black date disc. On the more colourful blue and salmon versions, however, these elements appear white, as do the brand lettering and model name. However, the hour and minute hands of all three variants have Super-LumiNova, which enhances readability in the dark.
The Calibre 400
Oris equips the new range with its own calibre 400. Not only does it offer automatic winding, it also has a weekend-proof power reserve of 5 days. In addition, the movement consists of 30 non-magnetic components, including the escapement wheel and the anchor made of silicon. This means that the watches can withstand even strong magnetic fields. Meanwhile, the company claims that the accuracy is -3/+5 seconds per day, which exceeds the COSC tolerances (however, the ProPilot X does not have the corresponding chronometer certificate). Furthermore, Oris emphasises the reliability of its mechanics and recommends a maintenance interval of 10 years.
Price & Availability of The Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400
The three versions of the watch appear on a titanium bracelet that is based on the shape of the case. It comes with Oris’ patented “Lift” folding clasp. The model will be available from 30 March. The price of the Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 is 3,900 euros.
