Panerai Luminor Due Luna: Moon Phases For The Luminor Due Collection
With the Panerai Luminor Due Luna, the Italians are presenting a moon phase display for the first time in the Luminor Due collection. Initially, four variants will be released: PAM01179, PAM01180, PAM01181 and PAM01301. In addition to three steel cases, there is also a model made of the in-house Goldtech. The four newcomers present the moon phase display at the three o’clock position, where it mirrors the small seconds. At 6 o’clock, the word “Luna” – Italian for moon – appears instead.
Luminor Due Luna PAM01179: Steel Case And Blue Dial
The PAM01179 has a 38 mm case made of polished stainless steel. The typical crown protection bridge can be found on the side, which is also polished here. While the front is protected by a sapphire crystal made of corundum, a solid steel back blocks the view into the watch. The dial with sandwich structure is blue and has a sunburst finish. The time is indicated by two gold main hands and a small seconds at 9 o’clock. Numerals, indices and hands are filled with white luminous material. Last but not least, the moon phase display can be found at 3 o’clock.
Luminor Due Luna PAM01180: Steel Case And White Dial
This version has a stainless steel case that is combined with a white dial. The watchmakers also decorate this dial with a sunburst finish. The sandwich structure ensures high luminosity of the beige luminous material, which is also found on the hands on this model. This model also has a solid case back.
Luminor Due Luna Goldtech PAM01181: Goldtech Case And Mother-of-Pearl Dial
The Luminor Due Luna Goldtech has a case made of the proprietary alloy of the same name. In contrast to common blends, Panerai also adds copper and platinum. The former provides a richer hue, while platinum protects against oxidation. The PAM01181 also features a sapphire crystal case back. On the front, meanwhile, a white mother-of-pearl dial with applied numerals and indices awaits the wearer. These, like the hands, are luminescent.
Luminor Due Luna PAM01301: Steel Case And White Dial
This version again has a steel case that is combined with a white dial with a sunburst finish. The sandwich structure reveals the numerals and hour markers, which harmonise with the golden hands thanks to the beige luminous material. The moon in 24-carat gold also fits in here, appearing against a night-blue starry sky. This model is the only one that comes with a steel bracelet.
The Movement Gets a Moon Phase Module
All four variants integrate the calibre P.900/MP. It is based on the well-known P.900 but adds a moon phase module. It also offers hours, minutes and small seconds but remains flat with a height of 5.9 mm. Meanwhile, the self-winding mechanism supplies the single mainspring barrel with energy up to a maximum power autonomy of 72 hours. Meanwhile, the balance operates at a frequency of 4 hertz and is secured in place by an Incabloc shock absorber.
Price & Availability of The Panerai Luminor Due Luna
All four models are water-resistant to 3 bar, i.e. approximately 30 metres. In addition, all of them have an easy-change system for the band, which can be replaced quickly and without tools. The PAM01179 with a blue dial comes with a shiny blue strap made of alligator leather. The price is 9,300 euros. The PAM01180 has an alligator strap in dark pink. It also costs 9,300 euros. The Panerai Luminor Due Luna Goldtech comes on a blue alligator strap and costs 20,700 euros. Finally, the PAM01301 with a white dial and steel bracelet. This one costs 10,100 euros.
