At the 2019 watch fair SIHH in Geneva the Florentine brand Panerai added two new models to its collection of their ‘Submersible‘ diving watches. These models have a steel case and are especially attractive to those with a smaller wrist due to their 42 mm diameter case instead of the regular 47 mm. Other than that the function of the new ‘Submersible‘ models stay unchanged. The former equipment of the Italian Navy still is a professional watch for divers.
Panerai watches are above all functional and robust. Therefore both models have a case made of AISI 316L stainless steel and a ceramic disc placed on the rotating bezel. Both models are equipped with the OP XXXIV manufacture calibre, an automatic movement with a power reserve of three days, which today has become the standard of Panerai’s movements. They are water-resistant to a depth of 300 meters or 30 bar.

The small difference between both new models lies in their colour schemes. The PAM00683 is designed completely in black. The PAM00959 has a blue ceramic disc that fits to its blue rubber strap. The watch’s dial is dark grey. The hand of the small second, which is located at the 9 o’clock position, is blue in both models. This function gives the user the certainty of the watch’s functionality while diving. The date indication can be seen on the opposite side of the dial at the 3 o’clock position.The luminous white markers are legible under all lighting conditions – even in complete darkness.
