At this year’s Watches and Wonders, Vacheron Constantin is proving that green remains in favour with the addition of two captivating Overseas models in olive-green and pink-gold. For those who are less about the glamour and more about technical feats, fear not. Vacheron is also introducing a titanium Overseas tourbillon edition into its main collection.
Let’s start with the latter: the titanium Overseas tourbillon model. The watch comes in a Grade 5 titanium case, alongside a matching bracelet. With a 42.5 mm diameter and height of 10.39 mm watch, it’s a sizeable piece. Yet, thanks to the choice of material, it’s a light one nonetheless, weighing in at 108.54 grams including the bracelet. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen titanium in the collection, though. The material first made an appearance two years ago, in the form of an Overseas tourbillon skeleton model. Finished to perfection, the emblematic polished bezel sits atop the sandblasted ring. In order to protect its complicated movement from magnetic forces, the case also integrates a soft iron casing ring. The sports watch’s case is water-resistant to 50 m.
This version of the titanium Overseas tourbillon model is much like its 2022 predecessor. However, this time, Vacheron is opting for the collection’s hallmark solid blue dial. The translucent lacquered dial with a sunburst satin-finished base features a velvet-finished flange, which highlights the double minutes track. Meanwhile, the 18-carat white gold hour-markers and hands are visible 24/7 thanks to the inclusion of blue Super-LumiNova.
The steadfast in-house calibre 2160 powers the titanium Overseas tourbillon. This automatic movement with peripheral rotor has a strong 80-hour power reserve, in combination with a frequency of 2.5 Hz. Its 188 components, including the handsome 22-carat gold peripheral oscillating weight, showcase high-calibre traditional finishing. Thanks to this, the movement earns the Geneva Seal certification. Due to its lack of a central rotor, the wearer can admire the entire movement and its meticulous finishing. This includes its circular-grained mainplate and hand-bevelled bridges adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif, its carefully hand-polished tourbillon bar, its finely grained wheels, and chamfered and polished screws. Impressively, the movement measures a mere 5.65 in height.
The titanium Overseas tourbillon watch has an integrated titanium bracelet featuring a triple-blade folding clasp with a comfort-adjustment system. The wearer can adjust the links securing the folding clasp to provide up to 4 mm more room around the wrist. That said, the wearer can also switch out the integrated titanium bracelet without a tool in favour of two additional calfskin leather or blue rubber straps. These secure to the wrist with the help of a sturdy titanium Grade 5 folding clasp. The new titanium Overseas watch is only available in boutiques.
Now for the winning combination for the aesthetes out there: the Vacheron Constantin Overseas with olive-green dials and pink-gold case. These sunburst green dials are now making their debut into the collection in the form of a chronograph, dual time, and date in two sizes, with the latter including a diamond-clad bezel option.
Before we get to the dial, though, let’s visit the Overseas cases. With each one glowing in 5N 18-carat pink gold, case sizes include a 35 mm gem-set date with 90 round-cut diamonds, a 41 mm date, a 42.5 mm chronograph, and a 41 mm dial time model. Each of these sports watches is water-resistant to 150 m thanks to the screw-down crown, and as always, each and every component is finished to perfection. A soft iron casing ring ensures anti-magnetic protection for each watch, while a sapphire crystal caseback exposes the equally exquisitely decorated movements.
According to Vacheron’s Style and Heritage Director, Christian Selmoni, ‘it could well be that this new colour will become as iconic as blue within the collection’. The new olive-green dial colour, he explains, ‘acts as a revealer, enhancing the brilliance of the gold while ensuring exceptional legibility of the watch’s functions.’ The new hue marks the introduction of a fifth staple colour within the collection, alongside the pre-existing black, silver, pinkish beige and, of course, emblematic blue.
Against a translucent lacquered backdrop to add depth, the centre of each respective dial showcases sunburst satin-brushing and a velvet-finished flange. In order to maximise legibility, Vacheron contrast the gold hour-markers and hands, which use Super-LumiNova, with the darker dial colour. Featuring a lighter-shaded double minutes track – or a single one on the gemset model – the wearer can quickly and accurately read the minutes and seconds.
These new timepieces feature various calibres with equally high watchmaking finishes. The movements are all self-winding and feature a 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight, featuring the collection’s emblematic compass rose. The trusty movements all beat at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), alongside a 52-hour power reserve for the chronograph’s calibre 5200, and a 60-hour power reserve for the dual time’s calibre 5110 DT as well as the 41 mm date’s calibre 5100. Only the smaller 35 mm gem-set Overseas‘ calibre 1088/1 has a lower but nevertheless decent power reserve of 40 hours.
Last but not least, these new olive-green Overseas models come with an 18-carat 5N pink gold bracelet. As always, the bracelet’s design features half Maltese cross-shaped polished and satin-brushed links. The bracelet secures to the wrist with a pink gold triple-blade folding clasp. Alternatively, the owner may opt for a calfskin or rubber strap in the same green hue. Both options secure to the wrist using pin buckle, which is also interchangeable without tools.
