The Master Ultra Thin collection is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s answer to a modern dress watch, in which the ultra-thin movement always takes centre stage alongside the elegant aesthetics. This year at Watches & Wonders 2024, the watchmaker is presenting three new variations of the Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar – with a revised case and dial design and a significantly higher power reserve.
The Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar collection is joined by two new models in red gold with eggshell white dials – one with 60 diamonds (approx. 0.85 carats) on the bezel and one without. The third model has a stainless steel case with a silver sunburst dial.
The diameter of 39 mm and the height of 9.2 mm remain unchanged for the three new models. However, the proportions have been subtly adjusted and the lugs are slimmer and more elongated to optimise comfort on the wrist.
There are also subtle upgrades to the dial: the sub-dials emphasise the displays even better, the starry sky of the moon phase display appears even more complex, the applied hour indices have been lengthened and the dauphine hands have been alternately polished and satin-finished.
In the centre of the dial, a red indicator warns the wearer not to change the time or calendar displays at a time when the mechanism could be damaged.
The calibre 868 with perpetual calendar is a further development of the maison’s calendar movement presented in 2013. It was developed, manufactured and assembled entirely in-house. The escapement and lever have been optimised, resulting in less friction and thus reduced energy consumption and wear. Despite high energy consumption due to the complications, the calibre 868 offers a power reserve of 70 hours.
The Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar is worn on an alligator leather strap, but can be exchanged for a different leather strap if desired. The Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar in red gold without diamonds costs 43,700 euros, with diamonds 51,500 euros and in steel 30,600 euros.
