The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 celebrates the connection between the two brands and motorsport. The watch is inspired by the Porsche 963, a hybrid sports car renowned in the motorsport world for its performance and technology. This shows in the design elements of the watch, which echo the race car’s aesthetics. For instance, the watch features a color scheme in black and red, reminiscent of the iconic livery of the Porsche 963. The watch is available in a limited edition of 963 pieces and is now on sale.
The case of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 measures 44 mm in diameter and is made from finely brushed and polished steel. The sides of the case are coated with black PVD and proudly display the Porsche logo. The bezel, made from forged carbon and featuring a luminous Porsche logo, reflects the lightweight, high-performance components of the Porsche 963. A beveled, curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial and ensures clear visibility from all angles. The watch is water-resistant up to 100 meters and features a screw-down sapphire crystal case back, engraved with “LIMITED EDITION” and the individual numbering “XXX/963.”
The dial of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 is inspired by the structure of the Porsche 963. It features a “tubular” skeleton design with NAC finish and a black rehaut with a 60-second/minute scale that has white, red, and grey markings. The counters are positioned at 3 and 9 o’clock and are equipped with Super-LumiNova blocks that together resemble the headlights of Porsche vehicles. The red markings at 4 o’clock reference the start time of the Le Mans race. The rhodium-plated, faceted, and polished hour and minute hands are also coated with white Super-LumiNova, while the central second hand is painted red. Additionally, there is a date window at 6 o’clock, where the date numerals are displayed against a luminescent background.
Inside the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 beats the in-house caliber TH20-00. It features automatic winding and offers a power reserve of 80 hours. The chronograph has a vertical clutch and a red column wheel, highlighting the technical sophistication. The vertical clutch ensures smooth and “jump-free” operation of the stopwatch function, similar to the systems in cars that connect the engine’s flywheel to the transmission. The special rotor is designed in the shape of a Porsche steering wheel and carries the inscriptions of both brands.
The strap of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 is made from black rubber and features a design inspired by the NACA air inlets found on Porsche racing cars. The strap bears the engraving “963” on a finely brushed and polished steel central link. A finely brushed and polished steel clasp with double safety pushers and the TAG Heuer shield ensures a secure fit and comfort.
The watch is limited to 963 pieces worldwide and comes in special packaging with a travel case. The watch is available for €9,050.
