Porsche Design Chronograph 911 GT3 and Chronograph 911 GT3 Touring: Watch Match for New GT3 Models
To mark the world premiere of the new Porsche 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 Touring, Porsche Design has presented two exclusive timepieces: the Chronograph 911 GT3 and Chronograph 911 GT3 Touring. These wristwatches are not just a companion for the Porsche GT3 models, they offer high-tech features and a design that embodies the racing genes of the sports car.
Case: Motorsports on the Wrist
Measuring 42 mm in diameter and 15.33 mm in height, the case of the Chronograph 911 GT3 is made of ultra-light titanium. Buyers can choose between a glass-bead blasted finish or a matte black titanium carbide coating. These materials ensure not only low weight but also high durability. The bezel is also crafted from titanium and is available in the same finishes. It can be equipped with a pulsometer, tachymeter, or minute scale, adding to the watch’s practical functionalities. Furthermore, the screw-down pushers and crown provide enhanced water resistance of up to 10 bar (approximately 100 meters). The sapphire crystal on both the front and back features a sevenfold anti-reflective coating and is hard-coated, offering clear visibility without reflections. The case back reveals the inner workings of the watch, including a winding rotor designed to resemble the rims of the 911 GT3.
Dial: Customisation and Motorsport Details
The dial of the Chronograph 911 GT3 features a new GT dial with a hexagonal structure, ensuring optimal legibility. The black rhodium-plated hour and minute hands come with Super-LumiNova coatings, while a yellow ring adds a striking contrast. This design is echoed in the instrument panel of the 911 GT3, underlining the close relationship between the watch and the car. The chronograph hands can be customised in three colours: Performance (white), Essence (black), and GT (yellow), allowing for personalisation. A special detail is the seconds disc at the 9 o’clock position, marked with the lettering “911 GT3” and a chequered flag design, nodding to the world of motorsport. Another unique feature is the coloured ring around the dial, which can be customised in the various colours of the 911 GT3 and the Touring Package, as well as in the colours of the “Paint to Sample” programme. This offers customers the opportunity to personalise their watch to match their vehicle.
Movement: Precision from the Manufacturer
At the heart of the Chronograph 911 GT3 is the Porsche Design calibre WERK 01.200. Inside are 25 jewels, and the balance wheel oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). The movement is COSC-certified, attesting to its chronometer-level accuracy. An automatic mechanism ensures a power reserve of 48 hours. The special design of the winding rotor, reminiscent of the rims of the 911 GT3, adds a visual connection to the Porsche brand. Customers can choose from different colours, including California Gold, Brilliant Silver, and Dark Silver. There is also a variant in black satin, either with a white or red rim. Owners of the 911 GT3 with Weissach Package or 911 GT3 Touring with Lightweight Package can opt for the exclusive 911 GT3 Weissach Rotor.
Strap: Matching the Vehicle Interior
The strap of the Chronograph 911 GT3 is made of original Porsche vehicle leather and yarn, designed to match the individual configuration of the vehicle interior. There is also an optional “GT3” engraving at 6 o’clock. The calfskin straps come with a titanium double folding clasp, available in various sizes, and feature a quick-change mechanism for easy replacement. Alternatively, a titanium bracelet with a folding clasp and fine adjustment is available, also matching the case finish. These choices allow wearers to customise their watch according to their personal preferences.
Price and Availability: Exclusively for GT3 Owners
The Porsche Design Chronograph 911 GT3 and Chronograph 911 GT3 Touring will be available to order from the end of the year. However, these watches are exclusive to buyers of the new Porsche 911 GT3 or 911 GT3 Touring. The price is 10,250 euros. Each watch comes in an exclusive limited-edition box, including a laser-engraved plaque with individual engravings that match the buyer’s vehicle.
