Frederique Constant Classic Tourbillon Manufacture Green: New Edition with Steel Case and Green Dial
Frederique Constant presents a new version of its Classic Tourbillon Manufacture. This watch is a direct successor to the 2023 models and will be available in a limited edition of 150 pieces. It features a 39-millimetre steel case, a green dial, and a matching strap. The self-winding FC-980 manufacture movement powers the watch. This new model combines traditional watchmaking with modern design elements, particularly the vibrant green sunburst dial.
Case
The 39-millimetre case of the Classic Tourbillon Manufacture is made of stainless steel and has a height of 11 mm. The polished surface gives it an elegant appearance. The convex sapphire crystal is scratch-resistant and anti-reflective, ensuring clear visibility of the dial. The transparent caseback allows a view of the movement inside. However, the water resistance of 50 metres is only modest. The traditional onion crown, reminiscent of pocket watches, adds a classic touch to the otherwise understated design. Each watch in this limited edition bears an individual number on the tourbillon and on the case, highlighting its exclusivity.
Dial
The dial of the Classic Tourbillon Manufacture is a deep palm green with a sunray-brushed finish. The applied diamond-cut, silver-coloured indices and the hand-polished silver-coloured lance-shaped hour and minute hands provide a contrast to the green background and enhance readability. A special feature is the opening at 6 o’clock, through which the tourbillon can be seen. The small seconds are indicated by a narrow hand on the upper bridge of the tourbillon, which is designed to be as unobtrusive as possible. This design not only emphasises the technical sophistication of the watch but also allows for an unobstructed view of the tourbillon’s inner workings.
Movement
At the heart of the Classic Tourbillon Manufacture is the FC-980-4 calibre. This in-house movement is automatic and features a tourbillon that also serves as a small seconds hand. The movement consists of 33 jewels and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). Notable features include the use of silicon for the escapement wheel and anchor, which makes the movement more robust and less susceptible to magnetic fields. The power reserve is 38 hours. The transparent caseback offers a view of the beautifully finished movement, which includes traditional decorations such as bevelling and circular graining.
Strap
The Classic Tourbillon Manufacture comes with a matching palm green alligator leather strap. The tone-on-tone stitching adds an extra touch of elegance. The strap is equipped with a steel folding buckle, ensuring a secure fit and ease of use.
Price & Availability
The Frederique Constant Classic Tourbillon Manufacture Green is a limited edition of 150 pieces. Each watch bears the limited edition number on the tourbillon cage and caseback. The price is 14,495 euros. This price is relatively affordable for a tourbillon, reflecting Frédérique Constant’s commitment to offering accessible luxury in Swiss watchmaking.
