IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL Toto Wolff x Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team
IWC presents a new limited edition of the Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL, inspired by the colours of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. The watch features the patented SPRIN-g PROTECT shock absorption system, designed to withstand extreme forces. This timepiece is a tribute to Toto Wolff, the Petronas team principal, who has been spotted wearing a prototype in th1e wild. Now, the watch is available to enthusiasts, but only in a limited run of 100 pieces.
Case
The case of the Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL Toto Wolff x Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team is made from IWC’s Ceratanium. This material combines the lightweight and robust properties of titanium with a hardness similar to ceramic. The dimensions are 44 mm in diameter and 12.6 mm in height. The screw-down crown adds to the watch’s water resistance of up to 100 meters. A tinted sapphire crystal case back, featuring Toto Wolff’s signature, exposes a view of the movement inside.
Dial
The black dial of the watch features a grainy, technical texture, reminiscent of asphalt. This texture is achieved by stamping the brass base with a special tool. The hour and minute hands have a new triangular shape and are coated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring readability in low light conditions. The minute scale appears to float around the dial, adding to the watch’s three-dimensional effect.
Movement
At the heart of the Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL Toto Wolff x Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team is the IWC-manufactured calibre 32101. This automatic movement features a bi-directional pawl winding system and offers a power reserve of 120 hours. The plates, bridges, and oscillating weight are blackened, matching the watch’s overall design. The movement is protected by the SPRIN-g system, which uses a cantilever spring made of bulk metallic glass to absorb shocks.
Strap
The watch comes with an integrated rubber strap in Petronas green, reflecting the colours of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. This strap is designed for durability and comfort. Additionally, a black rubber strap with textile inlay is included as a spare. Both straps are equipped with a secure clasp, ensuring the watch stays securely on the wrist.

The Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL Toto Wolff x Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team is a limited edition of 100 pieces. Each watch comes with a price tag of 103,000 euros. Interested collectors should contact authorized IWC dealers for availability.
