Originally introduced in 2011, the “Time suspended” complication has been a playful emblem of Hermès, inviting wearers to appreciate the present moment by pausing the relentless march of time. This year, this innovative feature makes its debut in the Cut collection, unveiled in 2024. The watch is available in three 39 mm versions in rose gold, including a striking model with a red dial, and is powered by the in-house H1912 calibre.

The Hermès Cut Le Temps Suspendu boasts a distinctive case that measures 39 mm in diameter and is crafted from satin-brushed 750 5N rose gold. Its polished bevels accentuate the “circle within a round shape” design’s sharp lines and bold geometry. The case is further enhanced by a polished rose gold bezel, which can also be adorned with 60 diamonds for those who seek an extra touch of opulence. The watch is water-resistant to 10 ATM, ensuring durability while maintaining its luxurious appeal. The crown, located between 1 and 2 o’clock, is engraved with Hermès’ iconic “H,” adding a subtle but distinct brand signature. Meanwhile, the button for the “Time suspended” function is located at the 8 o’clock position. Completing the case is an anti-glare sapphire crystal and caseback, which not only protects the watch but also ensures optimal readability in various lighting conditions.
The Hermès Cut Le Temps Suspendu dial is available as either a sunburst red-tinted (not available as gem-set edition) or opaline silver-toned version. The center of the dial is finely sandblasted, adding a texture that contrasts beautifully with the sunburst subdial for the 24-second running indicator. The dial is adorned with 4N gilt applied Arabic numerals, while the retrograde polished 4N-plated brass baton-type hours and minutes hands indicate the time. For enhanced visibility in low light conditions, they are coated with Super-LumiNova®. At 12 o’clock, the “Time suspended” feature is prominently displayed through a lowered V-shaped surface, framing the numeral and inviting wearers to pause and appreciate the moment.
At the heart of the Hermès Cut Le Temps Suspendu is the self-winding H1912 in-house movement, crafted in Switzerland, embodying the precision and quality synonymous with Swiss watchmaking. The movement measures 23.3 mm in diameter and is 3.9 mm thick, comprising 175 components that work in harmony to power the watch. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the movement offers a robust 45-hour power reserve, ensuring reliability and performance.
Moreover, the movement beautifully showcases the brand’s attention to detail with a circular-grained and snailed mainplate, satin-brushed bridges, and an oscillating weight sprinkled with Hermès’ signature ‘H’ motif. Coupled with the “Time suspended” module, which adds 133 components and features decorations like circular graining and Côtes de Genève pattern, this movement is both a technical marvel and a work of art. With a press of the button on the case’s left side, the “Time suspended” function is activated. The hands instantly jump to the 12 o’clock position and remain there for as long as the wearer wishes to freeze the time and experience a moment fully. By using the pusher again, the hands resume their positions in indicating the time. Further stretching the concept of time, the 24-second indicator’s hand rotates counterclockwise.
The Hermès Cut Le Temps Suspendu offers versatility and refinement with its strap options, designed to complement the watch’s luxurious aesthetic. The primary bracelet is crafted from satin-brushed and polished 750 5N rose gold, featuring a sophisticated butterfly clasp with polished pushers. For those seeking a more casual and contemporary look, the watch also comes with a Craie-coloured rubber strap. The interchangeable system allows for easy switching between the rose gold bracelet and the rubber strap, making the watch suitable for various occasions and personal styles.
