Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Automatic Music Edition: Full Volume Ahead
Audemars Piguet is presenting the Royal Oak Offshore Automatic Music Edition consisting of five new Royal Oak Offshore models dedicated entirely to the world of music. The Tapisserie dials are emblazoned with a colourful equaliser motif, and the cases also feature a number of allusions to audio technology. In addition to two titanium variants, there is also a black ceramic watch and two eye-catching white gold cases with gemstone setting. The timepieces all come with interchangeable rubber straps and integrate the latest in-house mechanics.
Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Music Edition in Titanium
First, the house is presenting two models with cases made of titanium. Here there is a choice between a diameter of 37 or 43 mm, which makes the watch suitable for all wrists. With a case height of 12.1 mm or 14.4 mm, the timepiece is not exactly flat. In addition to the typical Royal Oak design elements, there are a few allusions to the music scene. For one thing, the crown protector looks like the faders on a mixing console. In addition, the knurled studs are meant to remind us of headphone plugs. On the back, the sapphire crystal case back allows a view inside the watch.
The blue dial with Tapisserie pattern features the colourful equaliser motif with its printed bars. To allow the image to unfold fully, the date window has been omitted. The time is indicated by three hands, all of which are luminescent. This also applies to the applied indices, which sit on a ring for the smaller model. There is also an applied AP logo at 12 o’clock, which is made of polished white gold.
The model with a diameter of 37 mm comes on a blue rubber strap featuring a “mosaic” look. Three additional straps in turquoise, yellow and green are also included. The 43 mm model comes on a matt blue rubber strap with a pin buckle. Here, too, Audemars Piguet provides three additional straps in turquoise, yellow and green. All of them can be exchanged without tools using the quick-change system.
Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Music Edition in Black Ceramic
Next is the black ceramic model. This one is only available with a diameter of 43 mm. Here, too, the allusions to the world of music appear in titanium. On the black dial, the 10-colour equaliser display stands out even more. On this model, the indices and hands are blackened. The case back is made of titanium and has a window that reveals the mechanics. Here you will also find a reference to the model’s limitation to 250 pieces. The watch comes on an interchangeable strap made of black rubber. Here, again, three other straps are included.
Royal Oak Offshore Automatic Music Edition in White Gold With Gemstones
Last but not least, the Manufacture is presenting two models in white gold set with precious stones. There is a choice between a diameter of 37 mm and 43 mm. The dial is made of blue aventurine and bears a slightly different version of the equaliser motif. The ten columns are made of invisibly set stones. They include rubies, tsavorites and yellow, orange, green and blue sapphires. To give the stones more expression, the “Harmony” cut was developed to guarantee maximum colour effect. The play of colours continues on the bezel, where the stones pick up the pattern of the dial. The 37 mm version comes on a “mosaic” rubber strap, while the larger one comes on a smooth strap. Here, too, there are three additional straps available.
Mechanics
The manufacture equips the models with two different movements. The 37 mm cases integrate the new 5909 calibre. In fact, this is the first time Audemars Piguet has installed an automatic movement with hour, minute and seconds displays in cases of this size. The calibre 5909 is a further development of the 3120 and offers a higher frequency of 4 hertz and a power reserve of 60 hours.
The 43 mm models are equipped with the 4309 calibre, a self-winding movement based on the latest generation launched by AP last year, with a power reserve of 70 hours. Both movements are decorated with Geneva stripes, satin finish, perlage, line-cut and polished bevels. In addition, the oscillating weight is made of 22-carat gold.
Price & Availability of The Royal Oak Offshore Automatic Music Edition
The special collection will only be available in limited quantities. The two titanium models are limited to 500 pieces each. The black ceramic Offshore is limited to 250 pieces. The two gem-set timepieces are not officially limited, but a much smaller number of pieces can be assumed here. The titanium models are priced at 28,800 and 30,400 euros. The ceramic case is available for 38,900 euros. Finally, there are the two models made of white gold and set with stones. Here, the price is only on request and updated daily.
