Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheral White Gold
Carl F. Bucherer is introducing a new version of its Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheral. Previously seen in rose gold, the new edition is now available in white-gold. The new version is a limited edition of only 88 pieces. The Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheralWhite Gold features an uncluttered dial, while the tourbillon aims to have a ‘floating’ aesthetic. The brand’s Heritage watches dedicate themselves to the legacy of the manufacture’s 130-year history.
Firstly, the case: the Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheralWhite Gold is housed in a 42.5 mm white-gold case with long, slender lugs. This takes its inspiration from various historical references from the 1960s and 1970s. Meanwhile, the open caseback showcases the white-gold movement bridge’s engraving of Lucerne and its Chapel Bridge. What’s more, each limited edition features a swan in slightly different position. This is a reference to Schwanenplatz, the home of Carl F. Bucherer’s first watch and jewelry business from back in 1888. The caseback also exposes the tourbillon once again.
Meanwhile, the dial restrains itself from too many details. Therefore, it features simply appliquéd, white-gold-plated indices, a minute track, plus hour and minute hands. Additionally, the silver sunburst-finished dial has milled rings decorating its periphery. The star of the show is the peripherally mounted tourbillon itself, which lies at 12 o’clock.
The movement
First and foremost, the COSC-certified movement inside the Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheralWhite Gold is the in-house CFB T3000 calibre with a 65-hour power reserve. Notably, this movement, in which both the tourbillon and automatic winding system are peripherally mounted, is patented. Furthermore, as Samir Merdanovic, Head of Manufacture Movement at Carl F Bucherer explains, “Three ball bearings support the cage of the minute tourbillon on its periphery in a manner that is invisible to the viewer. They not only provide stability and precise guidance but also give the impression that the tourbillon is floating”. Secondly, returning to the basics – the watch is driven by a bidirectional automatic winding mechanism with a peripherally turning rotor in 22-carat rhodium-plated rose gold. Also, the pallet and escape wheel are anti-magnetic thanks to the inclusion of silicon.
Finally, the Heritage Tourbillon DoublePeripheralWhite Gold is, as mentioned, water-resistant to 30 m. It comes on an elegant, hand-stitched Louisiana alligator leather strap in dark brown, which operates using a folding pin buckle in 18-carat white gold. Last but not least, the watch is priced at 92,888 euros.
