The independent manufacture Greubel Forsey is presenting a new, sporty timepiece. The Greubel Forsey Balancier S combines sport and chronometry with a titanium case that is water-resistant to 100 metres and a high-precision angled balance wheel. The new model comes on an integrated rubber strap with a titanium folding clasp.
The titanium case of the Balancier S measures 43 mm (bezel diameter 45 mm) in diameter and 13.75 mm in height. It is equipped with an integrated bracelet and lugs, as well as a satin-finished bezel with an engraving of Greubel Forsey’s core values – such as “Perfection” and “Savoir-Faire”. The crown and the middle part of the case are covered with rubber to protect the timepiece. The curved oval sapphire crystal is adapted to the curvature of the case.
The skeletonised hands of theGreubel Forsey Balancier S are attached to a floating, arched bridge that supports a bevelled gear train. The large, inclined, balance wheel at 7 o’clock is exposed and takes up the space between the curved case and the sapphire crystal. A small seconds display is located on the inclined plane of the escapement at 8 o’clock. In addition, a skeletonised hand with a red tip at 2 o’clock serves as a power reserve indicator.
The calibre of the new model consists of 308 parts and 42 jewels. The oversized balance wheel, angled at 30 degrees, is designed to prevent any decrease of timekeeping precision due to the effect of gravity on the movement. The movement beats at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations or 3 Hz. Two coaxial barrels connected together provide a power reserve of 72 hours. It is wound manually. Finally, the bridges and main plate are made of titanium while a gold plate bears the limited edition number.
The new Greubel Forsey Balancier S is water-resistant to 100 m and comes on an integrated rubber strap. Its price is 195,000 CHF.
