New Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph in White Gold Ref. 5968G-001 And Ref. 5968G-010
For the first time, Patek Philippe presents its Aquanaut flyback chronograph in white gold and with a midnight blue or khaki green dial. In 2018, the manufacture launched the Aquanaut collection’s first chronograph Reference 5968A-001, in stainless steel. The color scheme however is not completely new and known from the automatic models in white gold (5168G-010 and 5168G-001).
Case
Now, the first white gold version of the chronograph model appears, reasserting the contemporary casual chic spirit of the Aquanaut collection. The dial with matching straps comes in two color variants – in an elegant midnight blue with black-gradient rim (Reference 5968G-001) and in a bold khaki green (Reference 5968G-010).
Case, bezel and pushers have alternating polished and satin finishes. The 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock is inspired by the rounded octagonal shape of the bezel. The elongated pushers are housed at 2 and 4 o’clock, on either side of the screw-down crown. The chronograph indication (central seconds hand, quarter-second scale, 60-minute counter) stand out in white against the embossed pattern typical of the Aquanaut collection. The white gold applied numerals and large baton-style hands are coated with luminescent for better legibility.
Movement
The new Aquanaut models are equipped with the CH 28-520 C self-winding flyback chronograph caliber with column-wheel drive and vertical disk clutch. Since the clutch causes virtually no wear, the central chronograph seconds hand can also be used to display the seconds continuously. The flyback function is set by pressing the pusher at 4 o’clock enabling a new timekeeping operation to be started instantly “in flight” while the chronograph is running.
The 42.2 mm-diameter case with screw-down crown is water resistant to 120 m. The new Aquanaut models are worn on a ultra-resistant integrated Aquanaut-patterned composite strap with a patented Patek Philippe fold-over claps, secured by four independent catches.
Price and Availaibility
Both new Aquanaut models Reference 5968G-001 and Reference 5968G-010 are available from now and joining the collection’s existing stainless steel Reference 5968A-001. Both executions cost 59,680 euros.
