Panerai presents its new Submersible Bronzo in a stand-alone collection. It has a limited production of 1.000 units per year, but is no longer a ‘special edition’. It means that Panerai keeps the flexibility to continue its production in the years after. This will especially please many Panerai fans because previous models have always been limited to 1.000 pieces within a ‘special edition’ and have been sold out quickly. Also for the first time, the model is named ‚Submersible‘ (instead of Luminor Submersible), which is an independent collection at Panerai since the beginning of this year. Other than the case and the device protecting the crown made of bronze, the new model now appears with a rotating bezel made of brown ceramic. To be more specific, it’s a ceramic-inlay that was built onto the bronze bezel.

In 2011 already, Panerai revived the hype for bronze watches. Most fascinating about the watch’s material is its special copper-tin alloy (CuSn8), which changes in such an individual way over time and develops a unique patina, which gives an incomparable character to each watch. The patina not only gives each piece a distinct look but also protects it from further oxidation, without changing its properties.
161 grams of heavy metal. The massive bronze case of the Florentine brand’s new model Submersible Bronzo 47 mm (PAM00968) has a diameter of 47 mm and is equipped with a device protecting the winding crown, patented in 1955. In this new version, a micro-sandblasted brown ceramic disc has been applied to the rotating bezel, which harmonises with the brown of the dial and the strap made of natural leather.
With this new model, Panerai again presents a professional diver’s watch, which is water resistant to 300 meters and has indications easily visible in all lighting conditions. The small second’s hand, located at the 9 o’clock position, indicates that the watch is running correctly in all situations. Especially relevant for divers is the rotating bezel, which guarantees the safe calculation of each dive’s duration.
