Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa PAM01681: Inspired by The AC75 Racingyacht
Panerai has unveiled the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa PAM01681, marking their ongoing partnership with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team. This limited-edition, consisting of 137 pieces, reflects the aesthetic and spirit of the Luna Rossa AC75 boat. The watch’s design elements are directly influenced by the boat’s characteristics, translating nautical excellence into a wearable instrument. With a brushed steel case, silver sun-brushed dial, and automatic movement, Panerai aims to capture the essence of professional sailing in this release.
Case: Brushed Steel and Ceramic Durability
The case of the Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa PAM01681 measures 44mm in diameter and is crafted from brushed AISI 316L stainless steel. It features a unidirectional rotating bezel with a black polished ceramic disk, chosen for its superior resistance to scratches compared to metal. The bezel rotates counterclockwise, allowing for the calculation of dive time—essential for underwater activities. A black rubberized crown enhances grip and functionality, especially in wet conditions. The screwed case back ensures water resistance up to 30 bar (~300 meters) and showcases an engraving of the Luna Rossa AC75 boat, adding a commemorative touch.
Dial: Silver Sun-Brushed Elegance
The dial of the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa PAM01681 is silver sun-brushed, echoing the reflective hull of the Luna Rossa AC75 boat. Grey and red tones complement the dial, mirroring the Luna Rossa team’s uniforms. The dial features a small seconds sub-dial with an ‘azurage’ technique, creating an illusion of moving waves. Super-LumiNova treatment on the hands, indices, and bezel luminous dot ensures readability in low-light conditions. The Luna Rossa decal on the dial adds a distinctive mark, tying the watch directly to the sailing team’s identity.
Movement: Reliable Automatic Caliber
At the heart of the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa PAM01681 lies the automatic P.900 calibre. Renowned for its reliability, this movement boasts a 3-day power reserve. Measuring 12½ lignes (28mm) in diameter and only 4.2 mm thick, it is among the slimmest automatic calibres in Panerai’s portfolio. The movement features a bidirectional oscillating weight, stop-second function for precise time setting, and a balance wheel that oscillates at 28,800 vibrations per hour. The Incabloc anti-shock device further enhances the movement’s durability.
Strap: Versatile and Nautical
The watch comes with two straps: a bi-material rubber and grey textile strap with Luna Rossa red accents, and a black rubber strap. Both straps include a trapezoidal AISI 316L stainless steel pin buckle. An intuitive interchangeability system allows for easy switching between straps, ensuring versatility and style.
