Patek Philippe 5204R-011 Split-Seconds Chronograph with Perpetual Calendar
Geneva-based manufacturer Patek Philippe is presenting three chronographs, each with a further complication. The house is showing the 5905/1A-001, a flyback chronograph with an annual calendar. In addition, the5930P-001, a chronograph with a world time function. In this article, we present the new Patek Philippe 5204R-011 which is a new variant of the split-seconds chronograph with perpetual calendar Ref. 5204R. The Grande Complication now appears in a rose gold case with a slate grey dial and strap.
The Rose Gold Case
The case of the Patek Philippe 5204R-011 is made of solid rose gold and measures 40 mm in diameter and 14.3 mm in height. The watchmakers also polish the case all around by hand. The domed bezel and the two-step lugs are also eye-catching. On the right flank are the chronograph push-pieces, one of which is integrated into the crown. On the back, the sapphire crystal case back allows a view of the mechanics. Alternatively, Patek Philippe also supplies a solid case back.
The new Slate Grey Dial
On the slate-grey dial with sunburst finish, dauphine hands in rose gold indicate the time. These, like the applied hour markers, have luminous coating. There is also a small seconds at 9 o’clock, while a 30-minute counter is opposite. The perpetual calendar consists of the day of the week and month at 12 o’clock and the moon phase window with the date hand at 6 o’clock. In addition, the small window between 4 and 5 o’clock shows the leap year cycle. Last but not least, the house gives the Patek Philippe 5204R-011 a day/night indicator between 7 and 8 o’clock.
The Calibre Inside the Patek Philippe 5204R-011
The CHR 29-535 PS Q calibre was introduced in 2012 and combines a split-seconds chronograph with a perpetual calendar. It relies on 496 parts and 34 jewels. In addition, it has a power autonomy of 65 hours. When this runs out, new energy must be provided by hand. Elsewhere, there are two column wheels that control the chronograph which uses an old-school horizontal clutch. It is also remarkable that the 30-minute counter jumps forward instantly. As usual, this movement bears the PP seal and also showcases hand finished decorations.
