Porsche Design Chronograph 1 911 Edition: Only For Owners of The 911 Targa GTS 50 Years of Porsche Design
Exclusively for owners of the Porsche 911 Targa GTS Edition 50 Years of Porsche Design, the manufacturer is presenting the Chronograph 1 911 Edition, a timepiece designed to go with the car. Both celebrate Porsche Design’s 50th anniversary and reference the past of the iconic 911 and Chronograph 1. The new Porsche Design Chronograph 1 911 Edition features the classic all-black look that dates back to Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. In addition, the watch features a calibre with flyback chronograph and a winding rotor that looks like the wheel of a 911 Turbo S.
The All-Black Titanium Case
The case appears completely in black and is of the lightweight metal titanium. The diameter of the watch is 40.8 mm with a height of 14.5 mm. The design resembles the recently launched Chronograph 1 – 1972 Limited Edition, which in turn is inspired by the original model from 1972. Here, the matte finish in particular emphasizes the retro character. On the back, the sapphire crystal case back allows you to look inside. Here you can also find the limitation number, which matches the owner’s car number. In keeping with the sporty inspiration of the watch, it offers water resistance to 100 meters.
The High-Contrast Dial of The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 911 Edition
The dial is black, but has contrasting indices in white. Around the dial is a ring on which the tachymeter scale lies. The time is indicated by two rectangular hands that are coated with luminous material. In addition, the red chronograph hand stands out from the centre. The corresponding counters are at 12 and 6 o’clock. At 9 o’clock, a small seconds hand makes its rounds. On the opposite side, there is a weekday and date display. Last but not least, the red “Flyback” lettering at 6 o’clock indicates the special function of the chronograph.
The Engine of The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 911 Edition
The calibre WERK 01.240 powers the watch. It comes from the brand’s manufacture in Solothurn, but uses the platform of the supplier Concepto. Here, however, the automatic winding is the job of a rotor that is reminiscent of the wheels of the 911 Turbo S edition model and is also lacquered in platinum. The chronograph, meanwhile, integrates a cam mechanism together with an oscillating pinion clutch. As the red lettering on the dial reveals, this watch also offers a flyback function. In addition, the movement bears the chronometer certificate of the COSC, which guarantees adequate accuracy. Last but not least, Porsche Design decorates the movement with black coating and small prints of the brand logo.
Price & Availability of the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 911 Edition
The watch appears on a black bracelet that is made of titanium. It also offers micro adjustment to ensure optimal wearing comfort. Alternatively, the chronograph can be worn on a black leather strap with a folding clasp. As a special edition, the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 911 Edition is reserved exclusively for buyers of the Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS Edition 50 Years of Porsche Design sports car, which is limited to 750 pieces. The price for the car and watch together is 196,356 euros.
