It is the unique design that Panerai chooses for its watches that makes this brand so special. Subtle and discreet, they do not resemble any other watch brand and are also very careful with their marketing. With its clean design, the PaneraiLuminor Bitempo oozes lightness, and leans on its Italian heritage with its GMT function that shows the time in two different time zones. At the same time, it preserves the characteristic features that define Panerai: Passion and high quality.
The new model of the Luminor BiTempo is available in two different colour variants that make an equal impression with their aesthetic details. In the case of the Luminor BiTempo in luminous blue, the focus is on the sun-brushed dial. It creates a particularly strong shimmering effect. The black model, on the other hand, has a matt black dial. But more about the dials in a moment.
The bold case of the Luminor BiTempo
The Luminor BiTempo is based on a solid 44 mm steel case that is completely brushed, except for the bezel, which is smoothly polished and gives the case a qualitative accent. The distinctive crown guard stands out clearly from the case, yet looks elegant and blends in with the overall design. The clear distinctive feature of the Luminor is the bow. It allows the crown to be pushed down by operating it. This technical feature was chosen as a solution to the problem of water resistance. It provides the watch with a water resistance of a proud 300 metres. The movement is completely visible through the sapphire crystal back made of corundum.
The sunburst dial
Let’s move on to the dial, which – as already mentioned – has a strong blue shimmer in the blue version that creates a very individual colour spectrum in different lighting conditions. If you take a closer look at the dial, you can clearly see the structure of the sunburst. The black version has a matte black look. Another striking feature is the typical sandwich design. It gives the numerals an almost three-dimensional appearance, with two layers, the dial and a layer of luminous material underneath.
An Italian text on the dial highlights the most important features: BiTempo refers to the GMT function, while the word “ore” stands for the remaining hours of the power reserve. A striking feature of both versions is the hand in luminous blue, which indicates the time of a second time zone. As always, the small seconds display is at the 9 o’clock position, while the date display, which is optimally legible and larger than in previous models, is positioned at the 3 o’clock position. The power reserve indicator is at the 5 o’clock position.
The movement of the Luminor BiTempo
The Luminor models are powered by calibre P.9012. The automatic movement offers a solid power reserve of 72 hours and beats at a frequency of 4 Hz. It displays hours, minutes, small seconds and the GMT function.
Price & Availability
The blue version of the Panerai Luminor BiTempo is accompanied by an alligator leather strap in the same deep shade, while the black version is available with a colour-matching alligator leather strap. Interested parties can get both versions for 10,300 euros each.
