Breguet Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097 Boutique Edition
Breguet is introducing a new Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097, this time with a blue dial. The wristwatch takes its inspiration from Abraham-Louis Breguet’s subscription watches from the late 18th century, and also evokes Breguet’s one-hand pocket watches of the time. The new edition, as with all Tradition models, showcases the calibre’s components via the top of the mainplate. Notably, the watch is only available in boutiques, hence its name: Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097Boutique Edition.
Firstly, the latest Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097Boutique Edition is housed in a 40 mm 18-carat white-gold case. The case connects to the blue leather strap with the help of straight welded lugs. Additionally, it features a subtly fluted caseband.
Secondly, the watch’s offset dark blue guilloché dial lies at 12 o’clock. It features Roman numeral hour markers, which display the time with the help of Breguet-style open-tipped hour and minute hands in rhodium-plated steel. Additionally, a retrograde seconds complication is situated on the left-hand side of the dial.
Meanwhile, the movement’s dark grey plates and bridges achieve their aesthetic from a technique named “peening”, a process that creates a grainy matt texture. The rest of the dial showcases the movement, revealing parts such as the bridges, wheels, escapement, and several other components that are usually hidden beneath the dial. Like Breguet’s pocket watches, the mainspring barrel is positioned in the centre. In addition, Breguet’s pare-chute shock protection system can be seen at 3 o’clock.
Thirdly, powering the Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097 is the self-winding in-house 505SR1. The calibre has a 50-hour power reserve and a frequency of 3 Hz. Furthermore, the inclusion of an inverted in-line lever escapement with silicon pallets and a silicon Breguet overcoil balance spring improves the wristwatch’s precision. Additionally, the movement has a white-gold winding rotor, inspired by antique Breguet watches, which is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.
Finally, each Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde 7097Boutique Edition is individually numbered and signed Breguet. Furthermore, the watch is presented on a blue leather strap with a pin buckle, and is water-resistant to 30 m. Above all, it is priced at 33,900 euros, and is available exclusively in Breguet boutiques around the globe.
