A. Lange & Söhne LANGEMATIK PERPETUAL: Limited Perpetual Calendar with Technical Sophistication
A. Lange & Söhne reissues the LANGEMATIK PERPETUAL on the occasion of its 20th birthday. For the first time, the watch combined a perpetual calendar with the Lange big date and also integrated a zero-setting mechanism. The new LANGEMATIK PERPETUAL appears in a case of either white or red gold and carries a blue dial. However, the manufacture will only produce 50 pieces of each of the two variants.
The cases of the two new releases are made of 18 carat gold, offering a choice of white or red gold. With a diameter of 38.5 mm and a height of 10.2 mm, the LANGEMATIK PERPETUAL has an understated appearance. The case is typical Lange, as it features a polished round bezel and a brushed center section. In addition, there are several recessed pushers on the side of the case that advance the calendar displays. On the back, the sapphire crystal caseback allows a clear view of the mechanics. Here, the manufacture also engraves the limitation number.
The blue dial of the LANGEMATIK PERPETUAL consists of solid silver and bears a minute track as well as a grooved structure under the applied Roman numerals. The latter are made of color-coordinated gold, as are the hands, indices and the moon disc. In addition, the watchmakers give the main, weekday and month hands as well as the indices a luminous coating. The perpetual calendar indications reside in the two subdials, while there is also room for a day/night indication at 9 o’clock. In addition, A. Lange & Söhne integrates a moon phase display in the small seconds at 6 o’clock.
Inside the LANGEMATIK PERPETUAL ticks the Lange manufacture caliber L922.1 SAX-0-MAT. It features automatic winding via a decentralized rotor made of 21-carat gold with a platinum weight. Integrated into the three-quarter plate, the hand-engraved balance cock with swan-neck regulation remains clearly visible. The maximum power reserve here is 46 hours.
However, the movement of the LANGEMATIK PERPETUAL also offers a stop-seconds function with the ZERO-RESET mechanism. Here, the second hand jumps to the zero position when the crown is pulled. This allows the wearer to set the time quickly and conveniently. Last but not least, a main corrector at 10 o’clock allows the calendar displays to advance together, which also benefits practicality.
Price & Availability of the LANGEMATIK PERPETUAL
The two variants of the LANGEMATIK PERPETUAL appear on a dark blue leather strap with a white or red gold pin buckle. Both models are limited to 50 pieces each. The price is 91,000 euros.

Among other things, the watchmaker created the eponymously named Breguet hands with their openworked "pomme" tip. Another ever-recognisable feature has to be the eccentrically arranged dial, taking inspiration…
