Roger Dubuis Introduces The Excalibur Blacklight Spin-Stone Monobalancier
Roger Dubuis is introducing another Blacklight Edition model, the Excalibur Blacklight Spin-Stone Monobalancier. Although the novelty remains true to its line with Roger Dubuis’ signature skeletonised dial, the new Hyper Horology watch is already a true pioneer of the collection thanks to its implementation of a novel synthetic process.
The case
The case of the Excalibur Blacklight Spin-Stone Monobalancier has a diameter of 42 mm and is made of EON gold. Precious stones that shine in a vivid spectrum of colours decorate the bezel and the flange. The red and blue colour of the gemstones is created by a SuperLumiNova coating that fluoresces both during the day and at night, as well as under UV light. To achieve evenness and luminescence of the stones, the so-called spin-stones were grown synthetically in a special method. This innovative concept of stone refinement is a novelty and has been patented by the manufacture.
The dial
The 3D spinels that appear on the dial form the striking frame of the calibre. Micro-rays of different colours form the shape of Roger Dubuis’ signature star. At its centre is a fluorescent diamond for added impact. Meanwhile, the Excalibur Blacklight Spin-Stone Monobalancier‘s hands in pink gold have a brushed surface.
The movement
This pioneering Excalibur watch is powered by the RD720SQ calibre, which is composed of 178 components. The movement has a power reserve of 72 hours, a height of 5.95 mm and operates at a frequency of 4 Hz. The improved micromotor of the Excalibur Blacklight Spin-Stone Monobalancier minimises the vibration of the movement. In order to design a movement that is less sensitive to shocks, the inertia of the balance was doubled. The shape of the escapement has been optimized to achieve greater efficiency in energy transmission.
Price & Availability
The Excalibur Blacklight Spin-Stone Monobalancier comes with a calfskin strap that can be replaced at any time using the quick-change system. The number of pieces of the Excalibur is limited to 28. Interested parties can purchase the timepiece for 167,500 euros.
