Hublot is introducing two new editions to its six year-long partnership with sculptor and best-selling French artist, Richard Orlinski. Meet the matching Classic Fusion Tourbillons in Vibrant Yellow and Sky Blue, each limited to 30 individual pieces.
Case of the new Classic Fusion Tourbillon
The cases of these bright and electric Classic Fusion wristwatches weigh in at a rather whopping 45mm in diameter and 10.6mm in thickness. They are constructed from polished ceramic in their respective colours, making for a very sporty look. The matching polished ceramic bezels are mounted with six signature Hublot ‘H’ screws in raw titanium for the Sky Blue version, or black PVD coated titanium for the Vibrant Yellow version. Despite this sporty aesthetic, the two Classic Fusion watches are only water resistant to 3 atmospheres, or 30 metres in depth, which is on the cusp of ‘sporty’ by traditional standards. That being said, Hublot never called themselves traditional.
Dials and movements
Sat within the multifaceted ceramic cases of each model is an open-worked dial, visible through an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Displayed beneath is HUB6021, the 115-hour power reserve manual winding calibre that constitutes the very beating heart of these two watches. The exposed bridges form an artistic scaffold-like frame which is finished in a rhodium plating for the Sky Blue version and black PVD-coating for the Vibrant Yellow version. In other words, the bridges of the movements are designed in such a way that matches the 6 ‘H’ screws atop the ceramic bezels.
Visible on the frame-like movement structure between 8 and 9-o-clock is a power reserve indicator, either white on the Sky Blue version or matching in yellow hue on the Vibrant Yellow version. This colour scheme on both versions is consistent with the hands and hour markers as well. Needless to say that the legibility of the hours, minutes, markers and power reserve indicator on the Vibrant Yellow version are superior to that of the Sky Blue version due to how the matching yellow stands out against the black PVD coating of the movement. Nestled between all this at 6-o-clock is the single speed tourbillon which rotates at one revolution per minute. Despite this, there is an absence of running seconds upon the tourbillon cage.
