Timely for the Summer Olympics in Paris, the German watch manufacturer Stowa is presenting the Flieger Olymp. This limited edition is available in three case materials: bronze, silver, and gold, paying homage to the Olympic medals. These three watches are also a technical highlight, featuring a beautiful new movement based on the ETA/Unitas 6498.
The Stowa Flieger Olymp is available in three different case materials inspired by the Olympic medals. The bronze case is made of CuSn8, a durable material that develops a natural patina. The silver case is crafted from 925 sterling silver and rhodium-plated to prevent tarnishing. The gold case is made of 750 gold and is polished, giving it a luxurious shine.
The dimensions vary slightly depending on the material. The bronze and gold versions have a diameter of 41 mm and a height of 12.80 mm, while the silver version is slightly larger with a diameter of 42 mm and a height of 13.50 mm. All models are water-resistant up to 5 ATM and feature anti-reflective sapphire crystal on both the front and back.
The dial of the Stowa Flieger Olymp is matte black, showcasing the classic pilot’s watch minute track. It remains simple and functional, with no logo or date. The blued steel hands and markings are coated with Superluminova Old Radium, ensuring readability in low-light conditions. A special feature is the central seconds hand, made possible by the new central seconds modification of the movement.
At the heart of the Stowa Flieger Olymp is the newly developed movement, based on the Unitas 6498. This hand-wound movement has been specially modified for the Flieger Olymp, featuring a central seconds hand and a seconds stop. The movement bridges are decorated with a subtle sunburst finish, visible through the sapphire crystal case back. Additional refinements include blued screws, a sunburst finish on the crown and ratchet wheels, and gold engravings.
The Stowa Flieger Olymp comes with a vintage leather strap available in black, gray, and brown. Each strap is equipped with a pin buckle that matches the case material. These straps give the watch a classic yet robust look, complementing its historical design.
The Stowa Flieger Olymp is strictly limited and will officially be available from July 10, 2024. The bronze version is limited to 18 pieces and priced at 3,990 euros. The silver version is limited to 9 pieces and costs 4,990 euros. The gold version, the most exclusive and expensive, is limited to just 3 pieces and is priced at 9,490 euros.
