Panerai Submersible Luna Rossa Carbotech PAM01563: New Special Edition For The 37th America’s Cup
With the Panerai Submersible Luna Rossa Carbotech PAM01563 another “Luna Rossa” special edition is being launched. The series celebrates the manufacture’s involvement in sailing, specifically with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team, with which Panerai has had a partnership since 2019. To mark the 37th America’s Cup, this new watch is now being produced as a limited edition of just 37 pieces and will be available for 24 hours on September 5th, 2024.
Case Design and Material
The Submersible Luna Rossa Carbotech PAM01563 features a 42mm Carbotech case, a material renowned for its superior mechanical properties and strength-to-weight ratio. Carbotech results from compressing carbon fibre sheets at precise temperatures and high pressure, combined with PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), a high-performance polymer that enhances the composite’s strength and longevity. The material is not only lighter than titanium and ceramic but also offers exceptional resistance to external forces and corrosion. The case’s uneven, matt black appearance varies with each cut, making every watch unique. The rotating bezel and lever bridge protecting the winding crown are also crafted from Carbotech, enhancing both aesthetics and performance. The screwed titanium case back, treated with black DLC, ensures high water resistance and is engraved with the image of a torpedo, a nod to Panerai’s historical connection to the Italian marine.
Dial Features and Design
The Submersible Luna Rossa Carbotech PAM01563 boasts a blue sun-brushed dial, which elegantly contrasts with luminous hour markers and dots. This design ensures optimal legibility under various lighting conditions. The dial includes a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock and a date window positioned at 3 o’clock, making it both functional and stylish. The small red seconds hand adds a touch of vibrancy and matches the Luna Rossa decal on the dial, further solidifying the watch’s connection to the prestigious sailing team. The combination of the blue dial and red accents encapsulates the nautical spirit and innovative essence of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team.
Movement and Performance
At the heart of the Submersible Luna Rossa Carbotech PAM01563 lies the automatic P.900 movement, known for its reliability and precision. This calibre measures 12½ lignes (28mm) in diameter and is only 4.2mm thick, making it remarkably streamlined. The movement offers a 3-day power reserve, powered by a bidirectional oscillating weight and stored in a single barrel. The balance wheel, oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, is securely held in place by a balance cock, ensuring stability and accuracy. Equipped with a stop-second function, the P.900 allows for precise time setting.
Strap Options and Versatility
The Submersible Luna Rossa Carbotech PAM01563 offers versatility with two strap options. The first is a bi-material strap featuring a striking red stripe with the words “Luna Rossa” in white against a blue backdrop. This strap combines the durability of rubber with the aesthetics of textile, reflecting the watch’s robust and sporty nature. The second option is a uniform blue rubber strap, providing a more subdued yet equally stylish look.
