TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition
To mark the 160th anniversary since the foundation of its manufacture back in 1860, TAG Heuer is introducing the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition. The limited edition is inspired by the 1972 White Heuer Montreal model, and 1000 pieces are available. In January, TAG Heuer introduced the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Dial Limited Edition. Now, the latest model is once again reminiscent of a historical Heuer watch.
The White Heuer Montreal (Ref. 110.503W) was introduced in 1972, remaining in production for a mere four years. Its replacement came in the form of the Valjoux Montreal, without an in-house calibre. The 42 mm stainless-steel oval case was an unusual choice of shape for the brand, and the crown was positioned on the left of the case, while the chronograph pushers were placed on the right. Above all, the dial used a range of different colours. Additionally, it offered tachymeter and pulsometer scales – the latter of which would help to measure heart rates. A date window was placed at 6 o’clock, however the model did not include small seconds.
White Heuer Montreal (110503W) and TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Limited Edition
The new watch comes in the same 39 mm stainless-steel case as the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Dial Limited Edition introduced in January 2020. Unlike the White Heuer Montreal, the case is not oval, but classically round. The surface of the bezel and round pushers are, like the case, polished. Protecting the dial is domed sapphire crystal, while the movement can be viewed through the open caseback. The caseback also features the watch’s limited edition number.
The TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition‘s dial is inspired by the original 1972 White Heuer Montreal, with a red, yellow and blue colour scheme. Around the dial’s edge is a white inner ring displaying a minute scale, while blue subdials dominate the centre. Running small seconds lie at 6 o’clock. The hour and minute hands – as before – feature yellow accents, filled with Super-LumiNova.
The automatic in-house calibre Heuer 02 powers the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition. The calibre has an 80-hour power reserve and beats at a frequency of 4 Hz. The rotor carries the inscription: “160 YEARS OF AVANT-GARDE”, as well as the brand’s contemporary logo. The integrated chronograph has a vertical coupling clutch, which prevents the chronograph hand from stalling when released. The column wheel design provides smoothly operating pushers. In addition, TAG Heuer was able to reduce the thickness of the movement to 6.95 mm.
The TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition (Ref. CBK221C.FC6488) is water-resistant to 100 m and comes with a blue alligator leather strap with a folding buckle. It is limited to 1000 pieces and comes with a special box that tells the story of the Montreal. The new watch costs 6,400 euros.
While many Swiss brands have been around for over a century, Roger Dubuis is not amongst them. In fact, the highly exclusive brand was founded less than three decades ago, back in 1995. Perhaps this is one reason for the brand producing some of the most striking, even outrageous horological creations out there. In its…
