Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon With Onyx Dial
Audemars Piguet is presenting a new version of the Code 11.59 Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon. The watch has a dial made of polished onyx, which gives it a purist look. It also features a flying tourbillon that picks up on the dial with a new black cage. The model appears on a black rubber-coated strap.
Case
The case is crafted from two different materials. The bezel, the lugs and the case back are of white gold. The octagonal middle section, on the other hand, is made of black ceramic. The diameter of the watch is 41 mm with a height of 11.8 mm. Above the dial is the double-domed sapphire crystal, which gives the front visual depth. The movement is also visible through the case back.
Dial
The dial is made of onyx. First, a stone is cut into a disc. This is followed by grinding and polishing the blank, which is then mounted on a brass plate. The watchmakers also place the “Audemars Piguet” signature on the dial. Two rose gold hands indicate the time with the help of a discreet minute track. At 6 o’clock, the flying tourbillon makes its rounds, framed by a golden circle. The tourbillon cage has a black PVD coating, which picks up the colour of the dial.
The Movement of The Code 11.59 Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon
The movement inside watch goes by the name of Calibre 2950. The mechanism debuted in the Royal Oak Concept collection in 2018 and then found its way into the Code 11.59 in 2019. The movement combines a flying tourbillon with a central rotor. The latter provides automatic winding up to a power autonomy of 65 hours. In total, the movement consists of 270 parts. The frequency is 3 hertz. The elaborate decorations are also visible through the sapphire crystal case back.
