A depth of 4,000 metres or 400 bar – that is how much the Oris AquisPro 4000m can withstand. The new model is the most resilient diver’s watch in Oris’ portfolio to date. While a wave pattern on the dial visually encourages its wearer to venture into the deep, a robust titanium case and a patented ceramic bezel with a rotation safety system enable adventurers to take the jump into the water.
The case
For a driver’s watch, the water resistance of the case is top priority. To withstand the pressures of up to 400 bar, the multi-piece 49.5 mm case of the AquisPro 4000m is made of titanium. Oris developed the patented, dark blue ceramic bezel with a minute scale and a lockable rotation safety system together with professional divers. Equipped for poor visibility conditions, the bezel’s Super-LumiNova coated indices glow green and blue. In addition, the timepiece has a screw-in safety crown made of stainless steel and a screw-in titanium caseback, which is decorated with the circular engraving of a 4,000-metre scale. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal that is domed on both sides protects the dial.
The dial
The design of the AquisPro 4000m dial is inspired by its use in the water, captivating the wearer with its blue colour and printed wave pattern. A dark blue hour circle contours the rest of the dial, thus creating an illusion of depth. In addition to the hours, minutes, and seconds, the dial indicates the date via a window at 6 o’clock.
The time can also be set to the second via the stop-second mechanism. Since light conditions can be difficult when diving, the central hands and indices are coated with Super-LumiNova and glow bright blue in the dark.
The movement
Concealing itself behind the AquisPro 4000m dial, the in-house automatic calibre 400 oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz. More than 30 of the movement’s components are non-ferrous and anti-magnetic, ensuring the movement’s high accuracy of -3/+5 seconds per day and making it more precise than a chronometer. Thanks to two barrels with longer mainsprings, the power reserve comprises 120 hours.
Strap, price, and availability
Matching the dial in colour, the rubber strap of the AquisPro 4000m is also blue and features a patented clasp system. With the help of an extended safety folding clasp, the strap can be easily adjusted while being worn. The diver’s watch ris available for 5,700 euros.
