Breitling Chronomat Giannis Antetokounmpo: Breitling Honours Basketball Star With GMT And Chronograph
Together with its long-time ambassador Giannis Antetokounmpo, Breitling has introduced a special edition of the Chronomat. Inspired by the athlete’s impressive journey from the basketball courts of Athens to the NBA, two watches immortalise the basketball star’s personality and style. These watches are available in two versions: the Chronomat GMT with a 40 mm steel case and the Chronomat B01 Chronograph with a 42 mm gold case. “Giannis has an incredible personal style and a self-assuredness that we wanted to capture in a timepiece,” says Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling. “So our long-standing ambassador became a partner who brought not only his aesthetic but also his indomitable spirit to this project.”
Unique Piece for Antetokounmpo Featuring Arabic Numerals
Breitling has also created an exclusive “One of One” model of the Chronomat B01 just for Antetokounmpo. This unique model features golden Arabic numerals, a white inner bezel, and white chronograph counters that stand out against a green dial. These colours pay tribute to Antetokounmpo’s team and celebrate his remarkable rise.
Case
The Chronomat Giannis Antetokounmpo is available in two different case sizes and materials. The Chronomat GMT features a 40 mm stainless steel case, while the Chronomat B01 Chronograph has a 42 mm case made of 18-carat red gold. Both models are water-resistant up to 200 metres and come with cambered, double anti-reflective sapphire crystals. The screw-down onion crown is a reminder of the collection’s aviation history and the solid case back of the GMT bears the signature of Antetokounmpo.
Dial
The dial of the Chronomat Giannis Antetokounmpo models is a vibrant green, reminiscent of Antetokounmpo’s team colours. The Super-LumiNova indices and hands ensure optimal readability even in low light conditions. The initials “GA” adorn the central seconds hand, giving the watch a personal touch. The chronograph also features a small seconds subdial with a basketball symbol.
Movement
The Calibre 32 powers the Chronomat GMT, a mechanical movement based on the ETA 2893-2 with self-winding and a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The Chronomat B01 Chronograph is driven by the Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01, which offers a power reserve of around 70 hours. Hallmarks of the B01 are column wheel actuation and the vertical clutch. Both movements are COSC-certified, ensuring precision and reliability.
Strap
The Chronomat Giannis Antetokounmpo models come with two different strap options. The Chronomat GMT is equipped with a Rouleaux stainless steel bracelet, while the Chronomat B01 Chronograph is available with either a green Rouleaux-inspired rubber strap or a Rouleaux bracelet made of 18-carat red gold. Both bracelets feature a comfortable double folding clasp that ensures a secure fit.
