Chopard is introducing a new watch: the L.U.C XP IL Sarto Kiton timepiece. To create the wristwatch, Chopard collaborated with Italian tailor Kiton Ateliers. The ultra-thin creation is limited to 100 pieces and is presented on a slate-coloured cashmere strap lined with red alligator leather.
The L.U.C XP IL Sarto Kiton is housed in a beadblasted DLC-coated steel case that measures 40 mm in diameter, and a mere 7.20 mm in thickness. The crown is made of the same material, and the bezel, flanks, caseback, and space between the lugs are also beadblasted. Furthermore, the case features an open caseback, and the sapphire crystal is glare-proof on both sides.
Meanwhile, the black and grey dial features a houndstooth motif, which takes its inspiration from Kiton fabric. The lacquered dial displays the time using golden Arabic numerals and hour markers, plus fusée-type Dauphine hour and minute hands. However, the watch does not provide seconds. Meanwhile, both the quarter-hour indications and the Kiton logo at 6 o’clock are coloured red (thus matching the strap’s red stitching).
The L.U.C XP IL Sarto Kiton uses the ultra-thin L.U.C 96.53-L movement, measuring only 3.3 mm in height. This is an automatic calibre, which Chopard’s Fine Watchmaking workshops produce and assemble in-house. Despite its dainty size, it has a 58-hour power reserve thanks to Chopard Twin technology: a patented Chopard system that combines two coaxial barrels. The L.U.C 96.53-L has a frequency of 4 Hz and uses a tungsten micro-rotor. Tungston is a high-density alloy that facilitates optimal winding. Finally, the calibre’s bridges showcase “Côtes de Genève” decoration via the transparent caseback.
The L.U.C XP IL Sarto Kiton is presented on a handmade Kiton grey and black strap, made from a blend of Mongolian cashmere, wool, flannel and elastane. The strap has a red alligator leather lining. A second black leather version also comes with the model. Finally, the watch is water-resistant to 30 m and costs 10,500 euros.
