Montblanc 1858 The Unveiled Minerva Monopusher Chronograph
At Watches & Wonders 2024, Montblanc is presenting a new 1858 The Unveiled Minerva Monopusher Chronograph, whose movement has not only been built into the case upside down, but can also be fully admired by the wearer from all angles through openings in the case.
Dial and case
Five openings have been worked into the bezel of the 43 mm stainless steel case (height 14.78 mm), through which light falls into the interior of the watch and gives the wearer a clear view of the elaborately finished movement. The stainless steel case has a horizontal satin finish and a fluted bezel in white gold, inspired by Minerva’s first fluted bezel from 1927. The dial is made of sapphire crystal with an openworked 30-minute counter, an openworked small seconds display and hands and indices coated with Super Luminova.
Caliber MB M17.26
The new calibre MB M17.26 movement is an update of the MB M16.26 from the previous versions of the 1858 The Unveiled Minerva Monopusher Chronograph. In the new calibre MB M17.26, the chronograph complication has been constructed on translucent pillars to reveal even more of the movement. In addition, the movement has been inverted in the case and the chronograph bridge has also been placed at the top of the movement to emphasise this component, the design of which was patented in 1912. The 21-component gear train had to be redesigned for this orientation and was also patented by Montblanc. The plates and bridges made of nickel silver were coloured blue and visually match the blue Sfumato calfskin strap. The power reserve is 50 hours.
Price, strap and availability
The new Montblanc 1858 The Unveiled Minerva Monopusher Chronograph is limited to 100 pieces and has been certified by the Montblanc Laboratory 500-hour test. The Montblanc 1858 The Unveiled Minerva Monopusher Chronograph is worn on a blue sfumato calfskin strap. Price: 48,000 euros.
