The Panerai Luminor Sealand line has celebrated the Chinese zodiac cycle since 2009. It aims to combine traditional astrology with Italian craftsmanship. The Panerai Luminor Sealand – 44 MM (Ref. PAM00863) was introduced in December 2019. Therefore, it dedicates itself to the Year of the Rat.
Panerai Luminor Sealand 44 MM – PAM00863
Panerai thereby continues the tradition that goes back to 2009, with the Sealand Year of the Ox (Ref. PAM837).
Like the other Sealand models, the Panerai Luminor Sealand – 44 MM has a decorated cover. This year, the front features an engraved rat. This decoration is the work of Italian master engravers who use a scalpel tool to cut into the steel cover. Next, the engravers fill the cavities with gold threads. Creating just one cover takes up to 50 hours. The hinged lid connects to the 44 mm steel case at the top (12 o’clock), protecting the dial underneath.
The grey dial of the Panerai Luminor Sealand – 44 MM shows the typical ‘Luminor’ design elements such as printed Arabic numerals and baton indices. Furthermore, a date window lies at 3 o’clock and small seconds are displayed at 9 o’clock. Both the hands and hour markers use Super-LumiNova, and sapphire crystal further protects the dial.
The in-house automatic calibre P.9010 powers the Panerai Luminor Sealand – 44 MM. Panerai creates all 200 parts of the movement in-house. The balance spring oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz and the two barrels provide a 72-hour power reserve.
The model is water-resistant to 100 m and presents itself on a semi-matt golden calf leather strap with a steel buckle. Additionally, the watch comes with a black rubber strap.
The Panerai Luminor Sealand – 44 MM (Ref. PAM863) is a limited edition of 88 pieces and is only available in Panerai boutiques. Its price is 23,000 euros.
