The Case of the Patek Philippe 5930P-001 is made of Platinum
The case is made of 950 platinum and measures 39.5 mm in diameter with a height of 12.86 mm. The watchmakers hand-polish the case all around and also place a diamond in the case flank at 6 o’clock. The lugs here are inspired by world timers of the 1940s and 1950s and feature the “wing shape”. While the chronograph pushers are found on the right side of the case, the pusher at 10 o’clock moves the time disc. The case back here has a viewing window that makes it possible to see the movement.
The green dial of the Patek Philippe 5930P-001 is hand-guilloched. On top of it are applied hour markers made of gold with a luminous coating. The faceted dauphine hands in white gold also bear luminous material. The central chronograph hand also functions as the sole seconds indicator, as there is a 30-minute counter at 6 o’clock. Surrounding the dial is a 24-hour scale and a disc with the city names, each representing a time zone.
Movement
The calibre CH 28-520 HU works inside the 5930P-001 and is automatically wound by a rotor made of 21k gold. The power reserve here is 55 hours. The chronograph operates via a column wheel and integrates a vertical clutch, which allows the use of the central hand as a seconds hand. In addition, the watch offers a flyback function that makes it possible to instantly restart a running time measurement. Last but not least, the pusher at 10 o’clock allows the time display of all zones to be corrected without affecting the accuracy.
