The New Breitling Top Time Deus Limited Edition in Sky-Blue
Breitling and the Australian lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina are launching a second limited edition of its Top Time Deus Chronograph. The 2021 Top Time Deus Limited Edition sold out incredibly quickly. With Breitling Top Time chronographs first making an appearance in 1964, Willy Breitling was the brains behind this sportier, more modern alternative to the Navitimer, offering somethingfor a young audience. Even then, the Top Time was appreciated for its distinctive dial variations. The latest creation from the collaboration with Deus Ex Machina is limited to 2,000 pieces and is available now from the Breitling online shop, Breitling boutiques and selected retailers.
Case & Material
The new Breitling Top Time Deus Limited Edition has a 41 mm case in stainless steel. The shape takes its inspiration from Breitling Top Time watches from the 1960s, intended to appeal to young people in particular. An engraving of a Deus motorbike with rider adorns the caseback and is designed by Carby Tuckwell, Creative Director of Deus. Each caseback is marked with the limitation “One of 2000”.
White lacquered & sky-blue dial
In comparison with last year’s version featuring rather discreet colour accents, the latest creation immediately catches the eye. The white lacquered dial features a sky-blue tachymeter scale, and the subdials for the seconds and minutes are also sky-blue. Indices and hands use a luminous coating for 24/7 legibility.
Even though the colour scheme is new, key characteristics remain the same. These include chronograph hands in the shape of lightning bolts, mushroom-shaped pushers, and a calfskin strap in the racing design. The chronograph counters are designed in the typical ‘squircle’ look; aka a mixture of square and circle. Last but not least, the light blue tachymeter scale on the periphery bears the Deus motto In benzin veritas.
Movement
Breitling equips the special edition with the Breitling Calibre 23, using the ETA 7753 as its base. The chronograph movement has automatic unidirectional winding with a ball bearing. The power reserve is 48 hours. The watch is also COSC-certified, which guarantees a maximum rate deviation of -4 to +6 seconds per day.
Price and Availability
Each new Top Time Deus comes with a waxed canvas travel bag. Breitling and Deus have also created a fashion and accessories line together for the first time. However, the products are only available in six Breitling flagship stores (Seoul Hannam, New York Madison Avenue, Milan, London New Bond Street, London Regent Street and Sydney). The new Top Time Deus is limited to 2,000 pieces and is available now in the Breitling online shop, Breitling boutiques and selected retailers. The price is 5,500 euros.
