TUDOR Pelagos 39: New Cosmopolitan Variant of The Diver’s Watch
The Geneva-based manufacturer is presenting the TUDOR Pelagos 39, a new addition to its collection of diver’s watches. With the new model, the house offers its professional range in a new, more compact form factor. The new Pelagos, however, has a cosmopolitan look with a shiny black sunburst dial. The titanium-cased watch is also equipped with a quick-adjust bracelet. Alternatively, a rubber strap comes in the box.
Case
The TUDOR Pelagos 39 has a titanium grade 2 case that measures 39 mm in diameter. It is completely satin-finished, which underlines the toolwatch character of the watch. Fittingly, the crown is surrounded by two protective shoulders and bears the TUDOR shield. The unidirectional rotating bezel has a ceramic insert. It has a satin surface with a sunburst finish and luminescent numerals. For optimal grip, the bezel protrudes slightly from the case. While a sapphire crystal protects the front, the movement remains hidden behind a solid case back. The water resistance is 20 bar or 200 metres.
Dial
The dial appears in deep, shiny black with a sunburst finish. Set above are block-like indices of luminous ceramic. The time is indicated by three hands that are also filled with Super-LumiNova. Last but not least, a ring with minute scale winds around the dial, its matt surface contrasting with the shine of the dial. The company has dispensed with a date window on this TUDOR Pelagos 39. In contrast to the larger sister models, there are also only four lines of text here, with the Pelagos lettering in red.
This Movement Powers The TUDOR Pelagos 39
Inside the watch is the MT5400 movement. TUDOR has already used this in two models from the Black Bay 58 collection. It offers automatic winding and a weekend-proof power reserve of 70 hours. It also has a screw balance with an amagnetic silicon spring. The frequency is 4 hertz. Last but not least, the movement bears the chronometer certificate of the COSC, which guarantees corresponding accuracy. Since the movement remains hidden behind the solid case back, TUDOR is modest with its adornments.
Titanium Bracelet And Additional Rubber Strap
The TUDOR Pelagos 39 appears on a completely satin-finished bracelet that is also made of titanium. It has a “T-fit” clasp that allows quick adjustment without tools. It moreover integrates a diver’s extension for wearing the watch over a wetsuit. In addition, TUDOR includes a rubber strap that connects to the case with elements in titanium. This strap is equipped with a pin buckle and can be extended by 110 mm thanks to an extension.
Price & Availability of The TUDOR Pelagos 39
The watch is available now. However, we are of the knowledge that interested individuals may have to be patient: at the moment, the dealers have few to no pieces in stock. The delivery time is sometimes given as up to one year. The manufacture also grants a five-year guarantee. For this, the buyer does not have to register the watch and there are no fixed maintenance intervals. The price of the watch is 4,110 euros.
