Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Selfwinding and Chronograph 41 mm With Accents in “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50”
Audemars Piguet expands its Code 11.59 collection with two new models in stainless steel. These timepieces feature a grey dial and strap, complemented by the brand’s signature “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” accents. Available in both Selfwinding and Selfwinding Chronograph versions, these watches showcase the collection’s unique design and meticulous craftsmanship. Let’s take a closer look at these new additions.
Case
The cases of the Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Selfwinding and Chronograph are made entirely of stainless steel. The combination of polished and satin-brushed surfaces creates a play of light, highlighting the collection’s distinctive design. The dimensions differ between the two models: the Selfwinding has a thickness of 10.7 mm, while the Chronograph measures 12.6 mm. Both models feature ultra-thin bezels and stylised lugs, which are soldered to the bezel using a special brazing process. This technique, originally developed for gold cases, had to be adapted for stainless steel, requiring greater precision and care. The double-curved sapphire crystal ensures durability and scratch resistance, while the sapphire caseback on both models provides a view of the intricate movements inside. These timepieces are water-resistant up to 30 meters, offering protection against splashes of water.
Dial
The dials of the Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Selfwinding and Chronograph are a striking slate grey, adorned with the brand’s signature embossed pattern. This pattern, created in collaboration with Swiss guilloché artisan Yann von Kaenel, features concentric circles reminiscent of ripples on water. The dials are pigmented using a galvanic process, enhancing the details and contours. The Selfwinding model has a simple layout with applied hour-markers and hands in 18-carat white gold, while the Chronograph version boasts additional counters at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, with the latter also displaying a tachymetric scale. Both dials are complemented by an inner bezel in the iconic “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” colour, adding a touch of elegance to the overall design.
Movement
The Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Selfwinding is powered by the Calibre 4302, while the Chronograph model features the Calibre 4401. The Calibre 4302 is a selfwinding movement with a date function, offering a power reserve of 70 hours. It has a diameter of 32 mm and a thickness of 4.9 mm, consisting of 257 parts and 32 jewels. The Calibre 4401, on the other hand, is an integrated chronograph movement with a column wheel and flyback function. It measures 32 mm in diameter and 6.8 mm in thickness, with 381 parts and 40 jewels. Both movements operate at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and feature a patented mechanism that stabilises the hands during setting. The sapphire caseback reveals the intricate decorations and the 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight, specially designed for the Code 11.59 collection.
Strap
Both the Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Selfwinding and Chronograph come with a grey textured rubber strap. They feature a stainless steel pin buckle, ensuring a secure fit on the wrist. The choice of rubber emphasises the sporty nature of the Chronograph model, while also providing a modern touch to the elegant Selfwinding version.
