Glashütte Original Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase: Two New Versions Inspired by Saxony’s Mountain Range
Glashütte Original expands its Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase collection with two new models. These timepieces feature a 40 mm stainless steel case and a choice of a Frosted Silver or Frosted Copper dial with Roman numerals. The watches are powered by the Calibre 36-24 movement, offering a Panorama date and moon phases. With their elegant design and high-quality craftsmanship, these watches embody the brand’s commitment to traditional German watchmaking. Let’s take a closer look at these new additions to the collection.
Case
The case of the Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase measures 40 mm in diameter and 12.2 mm in height. The lug-to-lug distance is 47.65 mm. Made of stainless steel, the case features a slender bezel and a combination of satin-finished and polished surfaces. A bayonet mount secures the movement in place, allowing it to be fixed with a twist like a camera lens thereby enhancing shock resistance and simplifying maintenance. The domed sapphire crystal on the front and the sapphire crystal on the case back are both anti-reflective on both sides. The water resistance is rated at 5 bar, equivalent to 50 meters. The transparent case back allows for a view of the movement inside.
Dial
The Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase is available with two dial options: Frosted Silver and Frosted Copper. The dials are inspired by the mineral deposits of the Ore Mountains region in Saxony and feature a fine-grained texture. Applied Roman numerals, made of solid gold and coated in blue, add a touch of elegance. The blued and polished poire hands, along with the second hand bearing the double-G symbol, ensure optimal readability. The Panorama Date at 4 o’clock is a signature feature of Glashütte Original watches and is complemented by the moon phase with its curved aperture. Together, these elements give the dial a classic yet contemporary look.
Movement
The Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase is powered by the Calibre 36-24 automatic movement. This movement is known for its durability and precision, featuring an extra-large mainspring barrel that provides a power reserve of 100 hours. The silicon balance spring offers resistance to magnetic fields, corrosion, and temperature fluctuations. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, equivalent to 4 Hz. Each movement undergoes rigorous testing over a 24-day period, ensuring its reliability. The hand-finished decorations and traditional embellishments reflect the high standards of Glashütte watchmaking. The movement also features an oscillation system that is resistant to shocks, further enhancing its robustness.
Strap
The Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase comes with three different strap options. One model is equipped with a blue Louisiana alligator leather strap, available with either a pin buckle or a folding clasp. Another model features a blue synthetic fabric strap with a folding clasp. The third model is paired with a stainless steel bracelet. Each strap option is designed to complement the watch’s elegant appearance and ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist.
Price and Availability of the Glashütte Original Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase
The Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase will be available from authorized Glashütte Original dealers starting March 2025. The price for each model is not yet announced, but given the brand’s positioning, they are expected to be in the higher price segment.
