At Watches and Wonders 2025, Panerai is presenting the Luminor Perpetual Calendar GMT Platinumtech PAM01575. With its case crafted from advanced Platinumtech and the technical sophistication of a perpetual calendar, the watch expands the brand’s high-end offering. Since the 1960s, the Luminor has been closely associated with Panerai. The new PAM01575 continues this legacy, combining refined watchmaking with a well-balanced aesthetic. Features such as the deep blue sapphire dial and the meticulous finishing underline the model’s ambition to become a coveted collector’s piece. Here’s everything you need to know.
Case
The case of the PAM01575 is made from Panerai Platinumtech, a proprietary alloy containing 95 percent platinum. According to the brand, this material is approximately 40 percent harder and more resistant to scratches than conventional platinum, offering enhanced durability. Measuring 44 mm in diameter and featuring Panerai’s signature crown-protecting bridge, the watch offers both visual distinction and everyday resilience. Water-resistant to 5 bar (around 50 metres), the case is tested under internal conditions that subject the watch to 25 percent more pressure than the stated depth.
Dial
The blue sapphire dial reveals the inner workings of the movement beneath, while its rich tone evokes the depths of the ocean and the brand’s maritime heritage. Hands and indices are coated with Super-LumiNova X2, glowing bright green in low light to ensure legibility. The layout is clear and functional, displaying hours, minutes, weekday, date, a day/night indicator, a 12-hour GMT hand, a 24-hour subdial at 9 o’clock, and a small seconds counter.
Movement
Powering the watch is the P.4100 calibre, a self-winding in-house movement developed over more than a decade by the Panerai Laboratorio di Idee. A decentralised micro-rotor in gold ensures efficient winding, storing energy in two barrels to provide a three-day power reserve. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the movement delivers precise timekeeping. The perpetual calendar is programmed to display the correct date until the year 2399, requiring manual adjustment only at the end of each century. The movement features a rotating disc, which is responsible for calculating the date up to the year 2399. Through the sapphire crystal window in the case back, elements such as month, year and leap year can be seen. All calendar functions can be adjusted via the crown without compromising the integrity of the movement.
Strap
The PAM01575 is supplied with two strap options: a dark blue alligator leather strap with handcrafted vintage patina for a more elegant look, and a sportier blue rubber strap. Both complement the colour scheme of the dial and GMT hand, offering the wearer flexibility to switch between formal and casual styles as desired.
