Armin Strom
The independent Swiss watch brand has stood for artisanal excellence and the distinctive aesthetics of skeletonised movements ever since it was founded in 1967 by master watchmaker and restorer Armin Strom. Following its takeover by the Michel family in 2006 and the establishment of a fully integrated manufacture in Biel in 2009, timepieces have been created there under the direction of Serge Michel and master watchmaker Claude Greisler, whose movements are developed, produced, and hand-finished in-house to an extent of 97 per cent. A standout feat of horological pioneering is the Mirrored Force Resonance, whose two balance springs oscillate in stable resonance via a specially developed ‘resonance’ coupling system. This technology, developed over the course of three years, enables exceptional rate precision and chronometry, as the two balances regulate one another in real time and largely compensate for negative influences such as movement, gravity or temperature fluctuations. With this groundbreaking solution, Armin Strom has solved a centuries-old challenge and made resonance reliably usable in a wristwatch for the first time. Alongside the Resonance collection, the models in the Masterpiece line also impress with highly complex functions such as minute repeater or dual time zones. Overall, Armin Strom captivates with a combination of innovative movements featuring a skeletonised aesthetic, crafted with uncompromising hand workmanship.
