Porsche Design Presents Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years: Exclusively For Owners of The Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years
Porsche Design has unveiled the Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years, a limited-edition timepiece that honors the legendary 911 Turbo. This chronograph, limited to 1,974 units, embodies the performance and design ethos of the iconic sports car. Exclusively available to the owners of the Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years special model, the watch is a testament to Porsche’s commitment to precision and style.
Case
The case of the Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years is crafted from titanium, adhering to the lightweight design principles of the 911 Turbo. This material not only ensures minimal weight but also boasts exceptional scratch resistance. The back of the case features an engraving of the vehicle’s limited-edition number, emphasizing the close connection to the special model. The case dimensions are 42 mm in diameter and 14.9 mm in height, providing a robust yet elegant profile. The crown is also made of titanium and is screwed for added security. The case back is made from sapphire-crystal glass, offering a clear view of the movement within. This glass is treated with a 7-layer anti-reflective hard coating on both sides, ensuring optimal visibility.
Dial
The dial of the Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years is a black sunburst design, providing a striking contrast to the white indices and lettering. The Turbonite-colored rings add an exclusive touch, reserved solely for Porsche Turbo models. At the 9 o’clock position, the dial features the ‘turbo 50’ motif, accompanied by a seconds dial designed to resemble a turbocharger wheel. This design element not only pays homage to the 911 Turbo but also enhances the watch’s overall aesthetic. Additionally, there is also the Heritage Design Edition that features phosphorous green and gold elements on the dial and rehaut, reflecting the color scheme of the rev counter and other striking accents found on the 911 Turbo 50 Years special model.
Movement
The Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years is powered by the Porsche Design WERK 01.200 caliber, a COSC-certified chronograph movement. This movement features a flyback function, allowing for the starting, stopping, and resetting of the chronograph with a single operation. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour (4 Hz) and offers a power reserve of 48 hours. The winding rotor is inspired by the wheel design of the 911 Turbo 50 Years, with the Heritage Design Edition showcasing a brilliant silver and white bi-color finish.
Strap
The strap of the Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years is made from black calfskin, the same leather used in Porsche vehicles. It features decorative stitching in Turbonite, adding a unique touch. The titanium folding clasp with a side-mounted push-button release ensures a secure fit, while the quick-change mechanism allows for easy strap replacement.
