Oris is introducing a limited edition in the form of a new watch with a deep green dial – the Oris Aquis Hangang Limited Edition. The Oris timepiece is helping to support a Seoul-based project to clean up South Korea’s Hangang River. In order to do this, Oris is pairing up with Seoul KFEM, part of the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements.
Both the green dial and bezel take their inspiration from the colour of the creek rivers at the Hangang’s source. The river is a vital source of water for the 10 million people who live there, but years of neglect have seriously affected the quality of the local water. Therefore, Oris will be supporting clean-up days organised by Seoul KFEM for later this year.
The timepiece is based on the brand’s Aquis diver’s watch. Therefore, it is housed in a 43.50 mm stainless-steel case and is presented on a matching bracelet. Also, the screw-in security crown with crown protection is made of steel, helping the watch to achieve water-resistance to 300 m. However, the unidirectional rotating bezel is ceramic.
Meanwhile, the gradient deep green dial features luminous hour and minute hands and indices with Super-LumiNova. Continuous seconds lie at 9 o’clock, while the circular date window with a white indicator surrounds the inner dial. Furthermore, the dial is protected by domed crystal sapphire with an anti-reflective coating.
Powering the Oris Aquis Hangang Limited Edition is the Oris 743, which uses the Sellita SW220-1 as its base. The movement’s functions include a date, date corrector, a fine timing device and stop-seconds. Moreover, the calibre has a frequency of 4 Hz, plus a power reserve of 38 hours.
Meanwhile, the caseback of the Oris Aquis Hangang Limited Edition features an engraving of a map of the Hangang’s path across Korea, as well as the limited edition number.
Finally, the timepiece is priced at 2,500 Swiss francs. It is presented on a stainless-steel bracelet with a security folding class with an extension. 2,000 pieces are available.
